Why do we always look so weak and slow?

Yeah our LB group is just painful to watch right now and we desperately need the infusion of speed and violence

Even when Steed makes the right read and play he ends up on his back

Not criticizing kids like him and Flagg, they just are what they are

We need an overhaul for sure

I love those kids and root for their success because they are Canes, but they are what they are like you said. It's frustrating because you see someone like Flagg, who has IMO a high football IQ but lacks the natural god-given talent, and then you have Knighton, who is the complete opposite, and it's a common trend with this team; you have one thing but lack the other.

We dont recruit speed.. We shut down our football players running track also.. We just dont value it from what it seems like for some years now.. Hopefully Mario changes that, alot of things to change..

I’ve never believed the top five was possible. I’ve been steadfast on that. Imo 12-15 is the floor 8-10 ceiling. That’s been my take since spring. Just my two cents.
Think there is that big a difference between #5 and #8 classes?

What's the general consensus on Feld? Clearly Mario trusts him or he wouldn't have brought him over, but he seems to be more focused on social media presence than substance IMO.

Manny Diaz could not recruit defense. Repeat that statement in your mind because these are facts.

Oregon fans were mixed on him. a lot of the injury issues were seeing happened there too where magically guys are out. idk anything more than that tbh

We don’t recruit speed, we recruit size. Remember that Samuel’s kid that went to FSU at corner and balled out? He wanted to go to Miami. Rumph didn’t want him because he was too small. We got Ivey instead cause he was big.

Same **** with wr.

I’ll also say 7 vs 7 culture in Florida is teaching bad habits.
Actually diaz didn’t want him rumph actually did.

Per @Brooklyndee at the time or whenever it was discussed on here, Rumph wanted Samuels and was overruled by Manny (and I think Banda), and the kid went to FSU.

All correct until a last minute push because they struck out on everyone else. At that point he felt it was more disrespect than something he'd entertain. A couple of months earlier and he would've likely came here.

Let's hope Skinner builds on yesterday. I kinda felt he matched Mallory play for play in impact.
When he begins to match the production Mallory had Saturday then we'll be talking. You could tell it was first real action out there for Skinner but he pops for sure. He's still really skinny and he needs to pack on more muscle but the kid should be a major matchup problem for defenses in the passing game. Watch for Skinner to breakout in the next few games. VT would be nice but I'm thinking a coming out party vs FSU in a few weeks would be ideal.

Granted, recruiting the right kids and not prospects is a huge part of the process but I have felt and still continue to feel something has been off with the S&C for a long long time. In the last 20 years name all the kids that got better here? Robert Knowles is about the only guy that comes to my mind. Transfers perhaps, but that leads me to believe their training prior to coming to Miami was better than here and they had "good' habits.

Unquestionably, the team needs to be faster & stronger. However, to say that we haven't developed guys when you see what Feeley alone did with Jaelan and Rousseau is simply not correct. Both of them went from looking like basketball players to absolute beasts (and first round picks) when they left. Jordan Miller's body went through a freakish transformation under Feeley as well. Key Smith seems to have become stronger & more explosive. The overall point that we need more speed & strength on the team is correct. To say we haven't developed players is simply completely incorrect (over the last 20 years).

In the 80s, 90s and parts of the '00s, no-one developed players better than Miami (see Russell Maryland and Cortez going from relative unkowns to the first overall pick and 3rd overall pick in the NFL draft). From 1997 to 2003 or so, the development was masterful (as many of those great players were not 5-star guys). The work ethic & talent evaluation (combined with coaching) produced off-the-charts results though.

S&C is hugely important BUT starting with elite talent is even more important. Let us pray that Mario keeps the '23 recruiting class in tact because having those types of physical specimens to start with makes a huge difference.

Every weekend I watch so many teams, even when losing, fighting for every inch with so much energy. They make smart plays and big plays.

Players here always look half asleep and uninterested.
I assume that would be due to the culture issues we hear so much about. If the locker room is that much of a cesspool of apathy and indifference then Mario has his work cut out for him.

The type of player development seen from 1997-2003 is something that I haven't seen since. Culture was certainly a factor as the work ethic of those teams is the stuff of legend. However, outside the work ethic and evals, what was that staff's secret sauce? Whatever it was, we desperately need some right now.
