Why do Mario-led teams have trouble being motivated against inferior teams with coaching upgrades?

It’s not a matter of motivation imo. UL is a solid team. Almost always impossible to overcome four INTs the same penalties over and over, being outschemed and being outcoached.
FIFY.

The Board 💯 knew Beck and Dawson were the 2025 scapegoats. We are on schedule. All our goals are still in front of us.

We’ve been winning the turnover battle all year . To UL’s credit they took the ball away on top of outplaying Miami. Tbh they missed alot of opportunities in the second half with penalties or self inflicted mistakes. If anything they tried to give it away.

If NFL wide receivers made some of those catches their ******* linebackers did, they'd have been Sportscenter Top 10 plays. Just one of those nights. Bad teams allow that to expose you, don't adjust, and lose multiple games. Good teams use it as teaching moments, motivation, and it springboards you to play better. We'll find out which one we've got in 2 weeks. Obviously anything can happen in this stupid sport on any day, but we're not losing to Stanford. We're not losing to Syracuse. I'd be really surprised if we lost to NC State. Getting through this SMU game is the season, obviously. Win that game, you're going to be 8-1 and probably back in the top 5 with NC State coming to town. Lose and we'll see ya next spring.

They really almost did. Btw, unlike what manny are saying on here. If we were just going for the field goal, we run it three times. Beck has to be better. Just need small adjustments.

Mario could have the 2001 team and he’d find a way to leave you scratching your head a minimum of once. That’s just how it is . Butch Jr. I knew that coming in so why even be mad ? It’s in the DNA. Winning 9-11 games a year was always the projection with the occasional deep run. That’s why the UL game didn’t even bother me. I don’t live in a state of insanity , I live in reality.
Give credit where it is absolutely due.
Cribby has been telling this to us all along and most of us got caught up in believing the hype and we started dreaming about 15 or 16 or 17-0, or however many games teams play now.

3 remaining games in which the coaching has to be on point:

- SMU
- NC State
- Pitt

Case can be made for Va Tech because it will likely be a night road game in a hostile environment in which you must survive the first 15 mins and take that crowd and hope out of it. Otherwise, it will be a dog fight as well.

SMU will be Brohm part 2..
Mario better not have the team sleep walk out there...

Why do you respond to me ? I don’t read your posts and i know you’re a troll from years back. Btw this will be my last response to you . I only took the time because I care , I hate knowing you’re wasting your time with these responses. Nobody takes you serious. Now run along and troll other folks sparky.
Dude went from Jagr to Wander Franco to Taylor Walls. Pedo to a career .195 hitter.

Brother I’ve been a Cane fan since the 80’s. I no longer eat my boogers and live in dream land. If a HC and Qb show you who they are believe them.

I was fine with the Mario hire and was well aware of his pros and cons. I’m still fine with him. Now with Beck I wasn’t ok with but when I saw the other options late I signed off . Now let’s be real , he’s showing what he is . This is nothing new . He’s a streaky qb that’s awful for games and then turns into Montana for the next handful of games. That’s why I’ve always referred to him as Beckyl and Hyde.

As for the game I missed good portion of it since I was at a HS game then a recruiting trip oos. But the parts I’ve seen UL ran a train on our staff. With how they used more db’s than most teams which caused issues , throwing more bodies and different looks at Bain and getting receivers in favorable matchups , sometimes on our slowest backer. I’ll be doing a full rewatch later this week and I’m sure I’ll have more opinions lol.

It’s hardly a Mario thing. Check the Saturday scores.
Please find me a coach that’s very well respected losing this many games as double figure favorite ? This is 100 percent a trend with him getting teams focused for teams that are a non threat. I’ve talked to people that were on field and it was obvious the juice was lacking.

Louisville is a non-threat? They are 5-1 and ranked.
Georgia Tech went 8 overtimes with Georgia.
Syracuse had the best passing attack in the country.

We lost those three game by a combined 12 points.

People have to stop acting like we lost to Wake Forest.

Btw there’s a reason I was so worried about this game and Mario in these situations was a big part of it . Now him against a real threat , that’s a different story.

I felt the same way about Beck because living in Georgia all I heard were complaints about him from UGA fans and when I actually watched him play he was exactly as you described (especially in the bama game last season). But I allowed myself to accept that all fault was with the UGA Oline and WR’s. Live and learn.

It really felt like we were a step behind the UL coaching staff all game on offense and defense. And it felt like that from the beginning of the game to the end. We stayed in the game because of a few explosive plays.

Just because we have Miami on our jersey's doesn't mean we are the top school, and everyone else is "mid tier".

Guess who has the most ACC wins the last 3 seasons? Clemson? Nope. Miami? Nope.

Louisville

The flat disrespect to Louisville by many on this board is interesting.

Brohm has lost only once in his time at Louisville by more than 10 points.

That spread should have never been what it was. 7-8 points IMO. GT last season, they haven't lost at home since 2023 UGA only by 8 against a top 3 team in the country. Even then they ran for over 200 yards on UGA when no one runs on UGA like that. Then turn around last season and outplay UGA lose in 8 OT after getting screwed by refs.

Syracuse had #1 passing offense in country and won 10 games last season. Those were always tough games.
Our fans are also obsessed with comparing talent by position group, or cumulative volume of talent on the total roster, rather than analyzing the actual matchups.

Yes, I agree depth is important, but there's far too little analysis of the things that are determinative in a single game stiuation.
