Why corrupt recruiting schools have future problems

So what do you expect the consequences will be for the schools and Adidas?

Whatever an eager attorney came make it. You have criminal activity, make it continuing, which it probably is, and you have RICO possibility. Lot of money and assets to seize for headlines. Good chance there is unreported cash payments. Somebody is guilty of something there. For a good lawyer, 2 plus 2 is whatever you need it to be. For me, I’d go for the schools endowment money. Hard case but boy what tons of money. These people are guilty and in it together and the old saying is, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and is seen it the company of other ducks .... . I’m not saying it will happen but it could.

On a side note...any legal eagles on here?

Are the BBall convictions based on intent to defraud the Universities through the use of unauthorized payments to players?

Wasn’t a partner in NYC. Don’t need to prove anything to you, man. You asked me to state qualifications and I did that for you.

I know a few people on this board. Folks I’ve known 15 years. They know my background; don’t need to make anything up to trump myself up.

So you pretty much proved my point. You worked your *** off your entire life so you could get hired by an NYC firm. You made it all the way to partner in another state, but being a regular worker is more prestigious/better salary than being a partner in another state.

This thread is comical. Only one person backed up what they said with sources. Lol

Man, I’m in a bar watching games, typing from my phone. I’m not on a PC.

You can’t just pick and choose which rankings to pull from. We can easily toss those rankings bank and forth.

What I KNOW is the firms i worked for recruited UGA over Miami all day everyday and in the state of Florida they preferred students from university of Florida over Miami. That’s not hating or shyting on Miami, that’s what I’ve seen close up and personal.

Lol.

Why are you assuming I “work for a firm” here in NYC?

Lol.

Why are you assuming I “work for a firm” here in NYC?

It is an assumption based off your prior statements. It really doesn't matter though. The point still stands. You worked your *** off your entire life in order to get a job in NYC. In the business world that is the end all be all. Getting a job in NYC. Working in other states is what you do if you ****ed up and went to school like UGA or if your GPA is not up to par(or the big one now is guys who never got internships or had subpar internships).

O

Why you you Miami Alumn’s so **** insecure??? My goodness, I’ve never seen a group of slums that get in their feelings quicker than Miami grads that’s insecure about the Uni rankings.

I didn’t talk bad about your mothers. I said Georgia is a better university. It’s more respected by folks in the fields I’ve worked in. That’s all

So you have no facts to back up your argument, instead just pathetic emotional response of a teenage girl.

I completely destroyed your emotional and biased anti-UM premise with stone cold facts, and this is your response?

I’ve never said this on here, but buddy you have been thoroughly and completely owned.

I’m sorry you didn’t get into UM, or any other decent university. Obviously your lacking in the requisite genetic material, but had you worked harder you may have at least gotten into Georgia.

College football in the South is what universities/colleges are to New England.

Education is a serious income stream for New England. Internet is actually starting to flourish now in Boston, but without the universities, the Northeast would take a hit.

No one goes to Auburn, LSU or Alabama for an education. Georgia is decent and Florida is still a good school, though its decline since 1995 has been marked.

These foundations are untouchable for now. IRS cannot attack them.....

That is faulty logic. Your argument is predicated on the notion that a university makes most of its revenue on football. That is a preposterous take. People go to Alabama bc they are from Alabama, or a neighboring state, and they were able to get into Bama academically, and not Duke or Harvard for example. Not talking football players here, just talking students. While Bama for example does really well in football revenue, the university will always make so much more money in the sum of all their other revenue streams, led by grants and tuition.

Exactly. This is why the richest universities are the Ivys, Stanford, MIT, ND, Duke, Wash St. Louis, Chicago , and the Giant public schools that are very good academically Michigan, CAL, TAMU, and UT.

Yah.....No chance. What I learned from this article is that the NCAA and Addidas won big time. These teams and Addidas earned hundreds of millions of dollars and in exchange they have 3 guys who will end up getting 2 years of prison time. I am 100% positive that if the schools ADs and addidas execs could go back in time and choose not to cheat they would 100% do it again.

Oh my, I am quivering in my boots, as I cower in the shadows of this Miami-degree-having intellectual giant! I bet the ground shakes when you walk.

I’m envious of your mind and that powerhouse degree you hold, Sir! And, oh, how I wish I had the requisite genetic material to be accepted into a University ranked in the high 50s and 60s. Must be nice!!!! I think back to my childhood and I remember saying to myself, “Self, top 60 school...shoot for THAT!” So, puff your chest out and strut about like a peacock!

But look, sir...you have somewhere between zero and very little talent...minuscule...I know this and you know this, so let’s not go back and forth on it. You’re just a caricature of yourself that bloviates, cusses and gets overly emotional on this message board. You run from thread to thread trying to “own” someone. Thats exactly who you are and it’s obviously gives your life meaning in some way, but go ahead with your bad self!!!

False. What sort of qualifications do you have to base your opinion? This is a straight fact. UGA resumes get thrown out when submitted for good banking/finance jobs in NYC. I know this for a fact because these resumes get kicked up to me. UM resumes have a chance of getting looked at assuming the GPA is high enough. Just because you read something in US News doesn't mean it is true. Like I said UGA may be better in useless degrees like teaching, communications, philosophy, etc. However, for any real degree, Miami will be better. As far as law schools go I wouldn't hire a lawyer that graduated from either one of those schools.

I spent 20 years on Wall Street and worked for a fund in Atlanta.

Neither Emory nor Georgia place people on the Street. Yes, you may have a few that make it, but on a percentage basis, they are not in the same stratosphere as the Dukes, Princetons, Yales or Stanfords.

I declined an offer from BCG recently and the Managing Partner on the West Coast told me that they only hire from 13 schools with some exceptions (i.e. they hire a former CEO who ran a manufacturing entity).

Very close to true but not entirely. Don't discount nepotism and relationships. I spent years at a very large global asset management firm and some of the people I was recruited alongside had zero business being there.

We hired a kid that went to Arkansas because he was a friend of the market manager's son. It didn't pan out well for him.

As for the rankings, they're largely are based on graduate schools, in particular, medicine and law. There are weird factors like freshmen retention and alumni giving rates that have next to nothing to do with quality of education.

But no, in no world is Georgia a better school than Miami.
Graduate schools have their own rankings.

You don’t know shiat for a fact. Stop it. I’m much older than you, and have waaay more career experience. I KNOW these schools because I actually vet resumes, interview and hire Employees and have done so for nearly a decade. I live and work in New York, but the world is much bigger than New York. Ever heard of Atlanta or Charlotte? They have banking presences too, but there are many more jobs out there than finance.

My qualifications are: I have 3 degrees from some of the best universities in the world, an Ivy MBA, I worked at 2 of the top 3 consulting firms in the world, and I made partner. I’m telling you flat out both my former firms recruited UGA and Emory hard in the state of GA. UGA is looked upon more favorably than Miami in consultant and finance (where the big dogs play).

The top 3 consulting companies in the world are: McKinsey, BCG and Bain. Period.

They do NOT recruit Georgia and Emory students to their NYC, San Francisco, or LA offices. They recruit these country bumpkins to their Atlanta office, so that the Coca Cola, Delta and/or Home Depot mandates have some local "fellas" that the employees can relate to.

Here is another FACT.... Emory was caught FALSIFYING SAT scores for its students a few years ago in order to maintain its US NEws ranking. Woddruff and Goizueta gave Emory $3B in cash to try and turn it into a Duke. They were former CEOs of Coca Cola.

I lived in Druid Hills for 4 years, down the street from Emory. The school is 70% Asian and admits purely on SAT score.

Emory students could not obtain a job in NYC if there lives depended on it.

I worked for a fund in Atlanta for four years. The city is a DUMP and 50 years away from matching the LAs, NYCs, DCs, Seattles or Bostons. Frankly, my friends say that Austin is better.

Atlanta is the Duke of Hazzard.

Your writing skills are not that of a gentleman that possesses three degrees. Sorry.............

The South is a dump.

One of my best friends works for Wells in their Investment Banking division in Charlotte. He possesses an Engineering degree from Columbia, an MBA from Dartmouth and an MS in Statistics from Northwestern. He says that there is not a SINGLE banker in that city that could survive NYC and/or San Francisco.

The South attracts 3rd tier talent. When I went to Atlanta, they had to match my LA salary to convince me to accept the offer, and I ran from that backwater town 3 years later.......
