Why are FSU fans thrilled about Taggart?

The FSU fans I know aren't excited because they hired Willie Taggart, they're excited because it's not Jimbo Fisher. They had grown weary of seeing top 5 recruiting classes produce 10-3 seasons every year, all while Jimbo kept hustling them for contract extensions and pay raises. This season was the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't think anybody was thinking championship once Francois went down but to go 6-6 with a team full of 4 and 5 star players and NFL prospects?

The other thing is, unless they're very old, most FSU fans have never experienced a coaching carousel hire before. Bowden got hired in 1976 and Jimbo was coach in waiting for a few years. This is the first time in 40+ years that they've had to go out and find a new guy.

That's the thing that gets me, FSU fans think that Taggert's recruiting is great. And? As if Jimbo's recruiting wasn't top classes? It's a clear downgrade at the HC position. Maybe recruiting stays the same. Fine. But it's not like all of a sudden they're going to pull in the #1 overall class.
 
And have you seen their schedule next year? Willie's walking into a powder keg.

So their two crossover opponents are Miami and Virginia Tech (two best Coastal teams) and their "gimme" Atlantic games are much improved (Wake, Syracuse, BC) and they have to do to the Dome.
 
Does anyone even know if he can recruit or is it just because he’s black?

Yeah, Narduzzi's great scheme depended on Rosier missing wide open receivers all day. I hope every opponent steals his plan.

we also already tried the black kids will want to play for the black coach thing 10 years ago and it didnt work wit radio. most of these kids arent making adecision based on race of the coach.

I think that is why so many FSU fans are thrilled. They think a young black Coach will be able to relate with the players and recruits very well. Having great recruiting classes is not everything if you can't coach them upright and build solid gameplans. Just look at Texas they are doing nothing with there classes

Powder keg. QB controversy gonna get real if they lose on Labor Day. Losing to VT is NOT something FSU fans are used to or tolerate. Then again, VT aint beating anybody good.

I dont have anything against Taggart, but I hope he fails miserably and drives that program into the depths of despair so much that the school brings back their greek organizations so that date rape and pledge deaths take over the headlines versus how ****** FSU football is.

Yeah, the coach of a program who has like one big win in its history against a team not Miami (OSU* a few years back).

I hope, but its unlikely VT wins. But the glass is half full. A VT loss really helps us in the Coastal.

Shannon, Sly Croom, Sumlin, Locksley = all black and all fired.

Yeah, that myth was busted when Radio alienated and scared off recruiting for entire regions in FL.

When I was a Georgetown student and basketball fan in the early '80's I thought top black basketball recruits would all want to come play for John Thompson Sr. I found that wasn't true at all.

Most recruits don't care.

Black kids want to see the field, win, get paid, make the NFL...just like white kids. Race is almost nothing; convincing kids they can do those things at your program is almost everything.
