Why are FSU fans thrilled about Taggart?

He averages about a 6-6 record every year with mid tier programs. He is a decent recruiter but that does not mean much. This is a huge downgrade from Jimbo. Taggart is like a Charlie strong it Randy Shannon type hire.

If he wasn't at FSU this guy would be the 4th coach in recruits minds in this state behind Richt, Mullen, Strong. **** even Kiffin and his trolling on Twitter brings more excitement.

Who's available that's better?

And at this point it should go without saying that sometimes coaches do better at one school than they did at another.

Hahahaha!

Will enjoy smashing FSU's **** in the years to come.

They beat the gator in the coaching hire game. Found a coach who wouldn't turn them down without getting rejected 4 or 5 times.

IMO they are basing their entire hire to make a splash with recruits. We will see if it works.

Great recruiter. Black. Innovative offense.

Very risky hire IMO.

We don't know what any coach will do until they are given a chance. Taggart rebuilt my alma mater from the ashes of a Holtz. Did well at Oregon and has a solid recruiting class there. If he, unlike others, can convince 25 top AA kids to understand his fate is tied to theirs, if they have any dreams of being a BCS coach, he like preferred types can do well.

FSU fans are the most eternally optimistic fanbase I've ever seen, when it comes to the condition of their own program and players. 6 months ago they would've sworn to you that Jimbo was top 3 nationally. In the past month they've managed to convince themselves that Taggart >>> Jimbo. A take that would've been unimaginable a few short months ago. Truthfully, they may have been wrong about both. I think they have a lot of reason to be concerned that this job is too much too soon for Taggart and is a risky hire. Say what you will about his ability to seemingly revive WKU and USF, he never had sustained success at either school (granted, that's because he got a bigger job offer before he could).

Everyone's available. It's just the price you're willing to pay to get them. But it certainly appears that FSU is on a "value" kick and they're not looking to spend big dollars. So that puts you in the Taggart bracket.

HIS ONLY ROAD WIN AS A POWER 5 COACH IS AT WYOMING.

Good luck next year at a shaking hard rock stadium at night.

As mentioned what choice do they have? They went for a guy they felt had some familiarity with Florida kids, problem is his record is suspect at best.
They've taken a big risk, time will tell if it pays off.
