Who would you like to see as the #4 team in the CFP?

If Utah makes it, they will get embarrassed in the same way Notre Dame did last time they did.
Not so sure about this.

They will be 10 point dogs and even a win in the semis would be a surprise. But they are physical, well-coached, and Huntley/Moss is a potent combo.
It looks like they will draw Ohio State, which is probably their best matchup. Utah's secondary was exposed by the USC air raid, so Clemson and LSU would be more likely to take advantage of that (and yes, I realize Fields has like a 40/1 TD/int ratio or something).

I think Utah's power rating is still a little low based on their strength of schedule. They've covered every game since the USC loss and have been manhandling people.

If they have a convincing win Friday night, they should be in. Unfortunately I think the committee set it up for Oklahoma to pass them with a win over No. 7 Baylor.

Georgia is the other team that belongs. They have the defense, the quarterback, the manpower, the pedigree. I'm not sure why LSU is considered such a certainty above them.

The other legitimate team is Oklahoma. The pass defense is at least competent this season at 6.6 YPA, in contrast to last season's all-time playoff joke of 8.4 YPA. Oklahoma also has the preseason rating and quarterback and pedigree and coach.

Beyond that you drop down to Utah which is smart and hard trying with the excellent 5.7 YPA pass defense, but simply lacks the overall manpower of the other programs. They would need everything to go perfectly. More likely they would be steadily worn down kind of like Washington against Alabama a few years ago.

If Utah wins, they'd almost have to be in, wouldn't they? The CFP could have a real mess on their hands if UGa and Utah both win. You could potentially have LSU (not a conference champ), Utah and the winner of the Oklahoma/Baylor game all at 12-1 competing for that 4th spot. Would they take 2 SEC teams and leave out the Pac12 and Big12?

I know they've looked off as **** at times this year, but I actually believe UGA potentially could hang with those teams. I do not think Utah, Oregon or Oklahoma could. Not that I'd be too excited about another dual-SEC playoff.
Georgia has the talent but ****tier coaches

Georgia belongs if they win on Sat. If they lose, they are out - despite being one of the best 4.

As to Okla/Utah, the Okla defense has become a sieve. Good luck slowing down OSU. The total would probably open around 75. Utah at least has a chance at slowing them down.

With this Utah team, I believe in brand name bias. I think they are legit. I think it'd be a coin flip with Georgia. Neither can beat the top 3 in a playoff, but Utah is 100% deserving to be there.

(Disclosure: I hold a 150/1 Utah ticket I grabbed in mid-October haa)

Whittingham is easily a top 10 coach, maybe top 5. What he’s done to elevate that program — one that wasn’t even in the Power 5 fairly recently — is simply remarkable.
I've been saying it for more than a decade bro.. I've wanted that mormon in Miami that long.

I dont see all the hype about Utah......I think there SOS is lower than UMs. Played 1 ranked team all season
