Who will be the DB coach?

Thanks for that perspective. I'm not advocating for Ward, just suggesting I could see how the staff might be assigned if he were hired.

I don't really know anything about Ward, so I'll trust your opinion.

If we really are keeping Larry Scott, I can see Ward as DC and corner coach, with Hartley coaching safeties and ST.

I dont mean any harm, but that would a horrible choice to have Ward as DC. I'm in Columbia SC and followed USCe almost as much as Miami. He inherited a great defense and did not change anything until Clowney left. He insisted on and convinced Spurrier to switch to a 3-4 two gap defense, with the dbs playing zone (sounds familiar?). It was very eery to see how similar his defense was to al Golden's/d'onofrio's defense. So I'm sorry if he comes then D'no might as well have stayed.

Pray it's Raymond. He would absolutely lock down Florida recruiting. Hes a big reason why lsu can come in and cherry pick a player they want from Florida. Arguably their best recruiter on that staff

I think Frank Wilson is viewed as their best recruiter ... Which I think is how they validate his $600K salary.

As for Raymond ... It looks like he's only been at LSU since 2012. Guys like Peterson, Mathieu, and Clayborn were there before he was even hired as DB coach.

Are we sure his rep is warranted?

No problem. Don't get me wrong though, he would be a great option for DB coach if Raymond don't come aboard. But that's it.

Listen to this. My family lives outside Columbia. They're all gamecacks.

Ward is the Donofrio of Carolina. I recall laughing when my Dad said before the TxAM game last year that Ward was changing defense to 3-4.

Then that game happened.

Yeah but outside of Peterson he still put them and others into the league and is still one of the best recruiters in the country.

Best recruiter on LSU is the local Lexus dealer they use to deliver the cars.

LSU bowl game is tomorrow night 9pm. If something is going to happen it would probably happen pretty quickly after that game. I can't see anything happening before the game if Raymond is our guy.

So, do you also believe Mario Cristobal is one of the best recruiters in the country?

I have no clue if Raymond is great ... But the kudos he gets sound exact like why most talking head media thought Mario Cristobal would be the best coach for Miami.

LSU was getting talent before Raymond got there. Seems like he may be more mythology than anything, but maybe he is the next great one? I just don't see him being the obvious hire some are suggesting ...

And I'm not sure he's really a better choice than Ward is ... As DB coach, and especially, as a Co-DC option.

The thing about Raymond is that while he is an elite recruiter he is also known as one of the best db coaches in the country
