Let’s start with the obvious -
#0 - Omar Thorton - this is the 3rd week in a row where he is lost in coverage, puts zero hands on an opposing WR, or gets absolutely run past. The corner route TD on him was disgraceful and absolute zero effort play from him. If that’s the effort you are going to give, I would rather take my lumps with a younger kid like Portis, Waters , Day and at least have meaningful reps that will eventually payoff.
#9 - Chase Smith - you just don’t have it my man. Injuries did you in and I am sorry for that, but this isn’t middle school football where we need to play kids out of sympathy. Those reps are better served with a young guy who may make mistakes but will learn and get better. Chase smith is at his ceiling and it’s not good enough. Wiley needs to step up and take reps away from him and give us more Marcelin.
SJ - brother, it’s not your fault you are vertically challenged and that our staff continues to play you. You may have Samoan strength but not for this program in 2026. You missed your window to play here back when we sucked. But we can’t play Mario ball with a 5’11 guard.
Ryan Rodriguez- you don’t get a pass cause you’re Cuban and went to Columbus. Not good enough. You and Sj combined are the weakest links and I am terrified to see the interior of this line against a real opponent.
Shannon Dawson - the playoff run made us all prisoners of the moment. We have not forgotten your play calling abilities at times are lower than mediocre. The last 5 possessions are as close to a fireable offense I’ve ever seen. You’re telling me you have no more creativity than screens, fades to Lofton??? And using Mali as a decoy who my wife knew was being used as a decoy. There cannot be an instance where my wife knows exactly what you are doing.
