Who picked...

The last extension was through 2025, but if they make the playoffs 1-2 more times in that time period I can see NBC renewing that no questions asked. I can see the NCAA eventually forcing them to join a conf though.
I’ll take ND and Army since they’re in NY and on the east coast... ND in the Coastal. The other four teams can go wherever. There... no more independents... lol.

Greg Mark to be a defensive lineman. JJ said he always left Greg off the starting roster until game day since he was so small but plugged him in late. Who decided Bernie Kosar with his awkward delivery could be a winning QB? Yet many here without anything but limited observation think their guy is the man. No matter who the coaches pick there will be many saying how wrong it is yet no one here has the visibility to ascertain who will be the next Dorsey. Who thought Rohan Marley could be a great LB? Who thought Leonard Conley could play fullback? Who saw no star Ray Lewis as a special talent? Based on physical attributes some of our best players should've never been starters. I love the coach who can see beyond the physical and select the winners that have something special. I just pray that one of our three has that something special but even though I have favorites, I do not have the knowledge to make a judgement nor does any one at CIS. I hope we wholeheartedly support whomever is selected (as long as it is Peyton Matocha).

... and where are those type of players in 2019; nowhere to be found.

Way too much parity and overall talent in the sport today. Most of those guys on rosters in 1983 wouldn't even see a scholarship these days, let alone the actual field.

Same to be said for a Ray Lewis flying under the radar in 1993 or Ed Reed in 1997. Recruiting is a behemoth today and average kids get exposure that yesterday's superstars never could've sniffed. Guys could fall in the cracks back then, but not these days. If Ray Lewis or Ed Reed were high school seniors right now, bet that they'd be well-known.

Lewis had an offer from Florida State, but turned it down because he didn't want to sit behind Derrick Brooks for two years. Miami stumble upon him soon after as they were scouting Jammi German, who was playing Lewis' Lakeland squad.

Fully agree that fans have to trust that coaches are capable and qualified to make these decisions—but pulling out random out-of-nowhere guys from yesteryear as an example falls flat.
