Straight up thought Mendoza was a JAG at Cal who wouldn't be someone who could give us an elite level of QB play.

I was wrong as all get-out. Laughably wrong. The kid absolutely deserves all of his accolades.

What would he have done at Miami?

Who knows for sure -- the coaching at IU is clearly at a super-elite level.

Do feel confident, though, that we would've seen less of those head-scratching decisions that Beck couldn't shake even after leaving UGA

IIRC, I wanted Mateer first, then Mendoza. I was at the Cal game and thought Mendoza played amazing. I'm pretty sure Beck became available later. I would have taken Beck over both because of the experience playing in bigtime games.

I think that staff deserves credit but I think Mendoza would’ve done well under Dawson. Ward and Beck both did.

I didn't want him relative to other options. Season isn't over though to make a final decision- maybe he went exactly where he should and wouldnt have played out the same here. no idea, hypothetical- but congrats to him

That’s just it. We don’t need elite at the QB position. We not trying to win the Superbowl. We need smart, competent, can run enough to get an 1st down, and can push the ball down the field, on occasion. We got athletes on the outside that can make plays. I was in favor of him. I was cool with Beck, too.
