Who Is This Administration Trying To Fool?

Well, if we want to protest...fly banners etc... Full board meeting Friday Dec 19....good day to do it.

Maybe it'll be as successful as your protest after the Miami/GB hoops game.

Some of you are real clowns. Because Shalala is a liberal all liberal heads of schools are neglecting their programs? Gtfoh with that chit man. Some of the most liberal mofos spend the most money on their athletic department. Shalala is a **** clown or has nothing to do with being a liberal. I hate that bich and I'm a liberal. And I know a lot of conservatives who has been supporting that little hobbit looking creature. Just stop

This.

Partisan politics are irrelevant here. The real problem is with narrow-minded idiots who think a great education and a great football team are mutually exclusive--and there are far too many on this board as well as the BOT.

Personally I think paying 50k for a bachelors degree from the 48th best school in the country is a waste of money. Miami's "academics" excuse is nonsense. This isn't Harvard. It's not Duke. It's not BC or Notre Dame. It's not even UNC or USC or UCLA. It's Ohio State with palm trees and a hermaphrodite athletic director.

Yet Michigan and Texas have both strong academics and a tradition of success in football, and Miami is at least ahead of Texas according to US News.

It seems you and others like you would rather have The U be a diploma mill with a dominant football team, while the BOT would rather increase its academic reputation in exchange for a moribund football team. The reality is that it's possible, even worthwhile, to be strong in both athletics and academics.

I don't think you get it. There is a vast ocean between a Duke or BC and a diploma mill.

That's where Miami sits, alongside OSU and UF and aTm and Clemson. Yet we ACT like Michigan. There is no reason for us to have academic restrictions when the other football schools in our tier dont

Miami for whatever reason has developed the arrogance of one of these *** *** "blue blood" schools like Michigan, Duke, Notre Dame, etc. I went to UM because it was a good academic school either a great social scene, and where I grew up. Dunno why we're so delusional about who we are. We're not and never will be an academic powerhouse. We can be an amazing athletic school with strong academics, and that is what we should strive to be.

Take it from someone pretty familiar with O$Uck, the students wish they were treated like Miami students. 10K a year there as in state student guarantees you 300-400 student lectures + recitations (featuring T/As who English is maybe a second or fifth language), campus hikes to get to class, KNOWING you are just a number unless you play for SubUrban, and the special feeling of seeing every Sucknut zombie in the state with a Goodwill nearby wearing $uckeye gear.

BIG Difference.

The premise of a a university being good academically AND athletically is not unobtainable. Look at Stanford over the past 10 or so years. Sure, they have a $#!+ load of endowement $$$, but it also takes an administration willing to realize the truth: it is Athlete-Student. A recent study found the vast majority of Stanford's athletes majored in just TWO majors. They may have not been UNC, but I'm sure Stanford has its share of "Wink, wink, Nudge, nudge" classes. Butch Davis told the truth about the academic situation with Athlete-Students; If you want to believe what corrupt politician Mark Mark Emmert and his NCAA Funky Bunch are peddling, go right ahead (there is no law against ignorance). The Athlete-Student population, even at smaller Miami is not a huge percentage of the undergraduate population and many sports have student-athletes (Kirijax' women's tennis team is **** smart!) who are better than the general student population.

And yet OSU has been tied or slighty better or slightly worse than us academically for several years. Stop overexaggeratig the schools academic standing; it's ridiculous.
