who is our best matchup at CB for J.Smith?

I love what O’Connor brings to the table but tbh he’s not physical enough for JJ. He might be better suited for Tate. I think you’ve gotta go Lucas with help over top bc don’t think Lucas will keep up with him down the field. We need a huge game from our LBs.

Brown is looking like he won’t play. And I don’t want a guy who’s just coming back and maybe not 100% covering the best receiver in the land. And that matchup in high school is applicable but maybe not a ton cause brown is a year older. That age gap matters less and less as they get older.

chris bell cooked oj. lost alot of confidence in him that day he looked slow and defeated. got ate up on crossing patterns so im willing to bet osu* will try the same **** come game day. sayin needs to end up in the hospital

The OSU game against Indiana I keep hearing gave Sayin a tough game. Looking at his stats, the kid was 21/29 for 258 yds 1 TD and 1 INT. JJ had 10 targets with 8 catches for 144 yds. Tate had 4 receptions for 45 yds and 1 TD. RB Jackson had 17 rushes for 83 yds ~ 4.9 avg.
Indiana had 5 sacks.

Hopefully Canes can get after Sayin, putting even more pressure than Indiana did, and forcing the guy to make more mistakes!!
and they scored 10 points

Would love to hear @Coach Macho opinion on this
From a size/speed perspective, I think it's Lucas or Brown. I'd also be interested to know what are his top three routes that he runs. Sometimes that can help you determine which CB you want covering him. I think you let Lucas get in his face and challenge them to beat us on low percentage throws. Lucas is around 6'2" 200lbs and runs a mid-10 on the 100m. I think Smith probably overwhelms most of our other CB's.

Formation often dictates whether you can bracket a guy or not, so it's unreasonable to expect us to double him every play. If an offense gets into run heavy formations, you have to get an extra guy in the box, which makes it harder to bracket one guy.

We just gotta play ball. 🤷🏻‍♂️
This is why football is sometimes about the Jimmies & Joes.

JJ is fast asf, he wasn't the #1 player because he is big. He is suppose to be the next Julio Jones or Andre Johnson not because he was the next Alshon Jeffery. I doubt he Lucas is faster.
I'm not sure who's faster but there probably aren't many CB's in the country running 10.5 at 6'2".
