who is our best matchup at CB for J.Smith?

Wide receiver are dependent on the QB, if you get to the QB it could be Randy moss out there it’s gonna be a long day for Ohio state lol

I really can’t believe Lucas doesn’t get as much respect around here he’s legit been our best corner

You never hear him because QBs don’t even try him
Or cause teams more often line their wr up to the wide side of the field and he usually lines up to the short side. And many top WRs play heavily in slot too. 🤷🏾

He's been good. Just don't think he's been talked with as difficult assignments as oj/O'Connor have most of the season tbh.
And the don't try him things is also false as he has the 2nd most targets on the team after Toure and allowed the 3rd most catches and 3rd most yards. Oj and O'Conner allow lower catch rate. But Lucas has allowed a low yards/catch at least. However that's also cause the Adot against Lucas is only 8.3... oj/oconnor is 12.3/11.3 respectfully. ... Lucas hasn't allowed a TD this yr and has the lowest pass rating allowed against him at only 66.8. Scott is at 71.7, O'Connor at 87.7, oj at 95...

Snaps per reception Lucas is at 11.1. oj at 13.8, and O'Connor at 24.2. .

Basically all that to say Lucas doesn't really stop as many passes as the other two, but he really limits how much is gained on them.

Respectfully, those stats are inaccurate. He got scored on vs SMU to be more specific - right after JoJo dropped the ball that caused the interception, they threw a touchdown pass on Lucas.

With how players from Miami get up to play us I think it's time to see that same fire from our players this next game. Play with a chip on your shoulder and I think they will. Put Lucas on Smith and lets ride. They're not unstoppable and our defense is playing their best ball. The stars have finally aligned

Sayin is going to try and get the ball out within 1.5 seconds after the snap. So you know it's going to be dink and dunk Day all Day. Backers and Safeties are going to have to earn their bag money with this game because the pressure from our DL (especially, surprise!, our Interior DLs, which will be unexpected because of the press about Bain and Mesidor).

Expect LONG, sustained drives from Taint capped by an attempt at an explosive or two on Second Down.

Oddly enough, Carson will have to establish the run AND dink and dunk as well. Those Frosh WR's are going to have to step on to the Big Stage this game just like Malachi did during the ND Game.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, Jojo can finally show out?

Just cause you are built for it doesn't mean you like it. Smith is an elite player his only potential weakness is mental fortitude. We probably can't be better than him so we have to be tougher. That's our best shot at affecting his game.
Again, I get what you're saying and agree to an extent but everything we've seen from Jeremiah says he has an alpha dog type of personality. That usually equates to having mental and intestinal fortitude.

As crazy as this sound, I’m a little more concerned with hour we contain Tate and Innis. Look, JJ is going to make big plays and put up numbers whether we like it or not. It’s very hard to shut this guy down. Look at the Indiana game, JJ put up 144 yards on only 8 receptions. In that game, they did a really good job locking down OSU’s other weapons. I’m curious to see who guards Tate

Innis is not good like at all. I think jj is obviously jj but with Tate I think We just faced 2 receivers who are harder covers than him imo and overall contained them pretty well

I actually like our DBs against Tate. I’ve watched a lot of OSU football, and JJ is going to likely give us fits. He doesn’t every single game. If Tate is also having himself a day, we are in trouble
