Who is off the wagon already?

Its one game. As fans, our biggest demon is our own built up expectations after over a decade without a contender in our Canes. If anyone’s to blame for our negative feelings, it’s us. I’ve given every coach after Ericsson a chance before getting off the wagon. ****, I even argued for AG to be given a chance. Why not Manny? You can’t just be a fan of victories, you gotta be a fan of the program, including its down days, or you’re no fan at all. What I don’t like is we’ve gone from”Manny is a Miami guy, he gets it” to everything today, post-game. Like Holycane above, I’ll wait and see what kind of a season we have. I’m a believer in Manny for many off-season reasons, I’ll afford him a season as coach to see where we are in December, post signing day.

I’ll still be rooting the Canes on, through thick or thin. For all the blunders, penalties, fumbles, and basic poor play we still had a shot to beat the #8 team in the nation. Does that mean we should take solace in moral victories? No. But I have faith that Manolo is one determined SOB who’s going to turn this program around; one way or another.

I’m with you... the Canes mean way too much to me to be talking shiit at this stage.
Next weekend I’m gonna be glued to the Ducks and Tigers game... should be a great one with the Duck’s qb.

I apologize in advance for this question because I haven't followed the board everyday, but what happened to this supposedly stud tackle transfer from Butler?

OP, I’m not sure anyone is off the band wagon. Bruh, we’ve endured sanctions, Pell Grant scandals, Vinny tossing games, going 0-8 against FSU during an 8 yr stretch, Radio burning through 3 time outs in 1 qtr, No D flipping through his magical D playbook, Golden sweating through his khakis, and Richtirement. Bruh, we’re built for this chit.

It was one game, but the same story....super hyped for a disappointing finish. We just tired of it. But there was def some positives. I’m glad we have a P5 opponent as our next opponent. I’m anxious to see what adjustments r going to be made, and how we respond. If we come out flat again, then I’m not sure what to think.

I thought it was a well fought game, with tons of mistakes by a young group. Seeing the responses here is sad, and I'd love to just have a nice record of where the negative folks stand so we can revisit at year end and maybe the end of next year. It's game 1. This is not Al Golden obvious poor coaching game 1, this is no OL recruiting leaving the new staff with a hot mess game 1.

If you feel that strongly about the staff, let's get it on record for when you try to jump back on the wagon. I'm sure I'll get the down vote from many, but I'll take those as confirmation of where you stand.

I’ve been riding this **** wagon for 30+ years , no need to get off now

Our fans..man you gotta love em..I told y’all last year this offense would struggle in stretches once again IF WE DID NOT SURE UP THE OLINE..you saw it. You all saw everything you bashed MR for not doing. You saw motions, multiple looks..but guess what? If u get whipped up front none of that **** matters..as far as someone who brought up the STs coach like he plays a direct role in 4 muffing a punt, or baxa missing a 20 YD Fg is laughable..that said I’m fully behind manny and think he’s gonna get it don

Everyone knows this. This is not some sort of breakthrough you came up with.

That said, I told you a million times that Rich sucks at recruiting the OL. That was always his issue with Georgia. Like I said, Kirby recruited more blue chips in 2 years than Richt did in his entire career at OL.

You kept saying "don't worry Richt will handle it, we don't need blue chips because the scouting services don't know as much as Richt". Look where that left us. With a worse OL than what Golden had.

I believe in Manny and I think he’s going to make the changes so yeah I’m on board. But if we don’t see the adjustments, that can change. Too early to tell. Let’s see where we’re at halfway through season. I try not to get too excited with being offseason champions (that’s reserved for Tennessee fans). I believe we’re heading in the right direction but it’s going to be an uphill battle considering we’re trending in the direction that you and I might be called to play tackle. Make the adjustments, lock in better o line recruits, fire Barry if he’s the culprit, stop giving free graduate degrees to guys like Tommy Kennedy etc.
They really missed on Tommy Kennedy. Never should have been here if he can’t beat out some true freshman that’s getting their butts handed to them.

It all went as I expected. We didnt hire an elite HC, we took a gamble on a brand new inexperienced HC. So while I was disappointed with the hire originally and knew we'd have games like this, I'm more interested in if Diaz learns from this. Its gonna take a couple of years to fix depth, talent level & the offense to beat ranked teams out of conference. Some coaches are gonna have to leave along the way... no one hires their 1st staff perfect. I'm interested to see if Manny has what it takes on all levels; offseason preparation, staff management, recruiting, self improvement, etc.
This sounds reasonable. I agree to

I'd throw Patke and Stubblefield in there too. Hard to imagine special teams playing any worse or position group being so bad that they feel the need to put in a QB as WR3

You sound ******* ridiculous. How is it Patkes fault Baxa missed a chip shot or Thomas muffs a punt?

Richt got TK from portal? But I get your point. OL is in bad shape at tackle, we have decent guys in the middle. Once the ends break down the whole group looks like crap.

I hope they fix it because if JW gets time he could be a real true blessing how accurate he is even under duress. Never had a catchable interception for Gates. So I’m very optimistic from that standpoint

It really doesn't matter, now does it? Manny will get a minimum of three years, if nothing more than the bad optics/politics of firing a minority HC whose Dad is a former Miami Mayor.

Realpolitik

I didn't mention TK or the portal at all in my post. So I am not sure where you are going with that. I am just saying Richt sucked at building an OL and that rang true eve back in UGA, with the bags. Like I said, Kirby landed more blue chips in 2 years at OL than Richt did in his entire career.

I don’t think anyone who made it through the golden years with no D is gonna jump ship... ever. Obviously we’re proven masochists

You can blame him for not seeing that fake punt coming a mile away and for the players looking like they had no idea what to do once they realized it was a fake. Also, simple mistakes like muffing a punt or missing a chip shot say a lot about a coach.

Fake punt, agree. The other two, agree to disagree

OMG. You have 2 players on special teams that screwed up and you blame the whole team. The other 10 players on the fg did their job. The other 10 players on punt return did their job. Single out the players you are blaming instead of "special teams".
