Who is off the wagon already?

Now we're going to see what the team and coaches are made of. Do the coaches bring in an extra blocker like Jordan? Do they stop catching the ball inside the 10 which is foolish if you ask me. Gotta speed everything up on offense too. Bottom line in this game the coaches got out coached. Even with that you can't miss chip shots and you can't fumble punts, that was the difference right there.

I agree with OGH, no way in **** we had a top 2 Defense we played scrubs and when we didn't we got **** on. Let's be honest here.

That being said I think it's still possible to 11-1 regardless of what some say, Florida is the best team we play all year. 90% of the time starting a freshmen QB the first game on the road against a good team rarely works out. The coaches had no choice in this one. JMO

If we made it through Shannon's extremities, Golden's pillars, Richt's QB coRch Lil Jon (and that's for young Canes).. I don't think losing the opener against the #8 team would be a deal breaker. Did hate our lack of discipline though.

Full disclaimer: Even when we were about to go up 10 late, I expected us to blow it. #cursed

that's our battered cane syndrome. i felt the same way as soon as cam's run got called back.

I think OPs question was misunderstood. Who fell off the wagon and started drinking again. I had to call my sponsor but it's ok. One day at a time. :nice:

It all went as I expected. We didnt hire an elite HC, we took a gamble on a brand new inexperienced HC. So while I was disappointed with the hire originally and knew we'd have games like this, I'm more interested in if Diaz learns from this. Its gonna take a couple of years to fix depth, talent level & the offense to beat ranked teams out of conference. Some coaches are gonna have to leave along the way... no one hires their 1st staff perfect. I'm interested to see if Manny has what it takes on all levels; offseason preparation, staff management, recruiting, self improvement, etc.

Like Clemson did.

I thought it was a well fought game, with tons of mistakes by a young group. Seeing the responses here is sad, and I'd love to just have a nice record of where the negative folks stand so we can revisit at year end and maybe the end of next year. It's game 1. This is not Al Golden obvious poor coaching game 1, this is no OL recruiting leaving the new staff with a hot mess game 1.

If you feel that strongly about the staff, let's get it on record for when you try to jump back on the wagon. I'm sure I'll get the down vote from many, but I'll take those as confirmation of where you stand.
As a Cane alum, and lifetime fan, I didn't like losing (never do); BUT, this loss didn't really bother me that much. I watched the game with lower expectations. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when you're starting freshmen on the offensive line AND a freshman quarterback, you're going to take your lumps. Well, we took 'em and took 'em, and we were still in the game until the very end. You can practice all you want but you cannot fully anticipate hat your opponent is going to throw at you until you actually get smacked in the face.

Look on the bright side...these KIDS didn't fold. They played until the last seconds of the game. THAT is what makes me feel better about the loss. The culture and the mindset of this team is light years better than last year's team. For this reason, and this reason alone, we should ALL be getting behind them. NOT rail at every minor mistake in the FIRST game.

Wrong! If 1 person fvcks up thats on the worker. When multiple people fvck up thats on the manager.
But so far, only 1 person has had those fvck ups. If it continues to be a problem under Diaz, then I'll agree with you. The shop has only had the Grand Opening, we'll see if the employees make a habit of these mistakes and if the management doesnt address it.

Agree, I was lurking on the gameday discussion board that night, as I was unable to watch the game - some of these people really should just go find a different team to root for.

Same. I know it's the Gator, and no one ever wants to lose to the Gator. But you also have to allow for the simple fact that our QB had very, very little actual game experience going into this......what was it, a couple series of mop-up vs Savannah St. and FIU last year? Also, Kosar and Testaverde both lost to the Gator their first starts, at home no less, and I'd say both of them turned out to be pretty good QBs.

On the flip side, if JT fields a punt and Baxa makes an easy chip shot and we win the game, it wouldn't have absolved the team of its issues. Double digit sacks is something that is entirely unacceptable and would have needed to be addressed either way.

Im not yet, although concerned and red flags r there I have to see it throughout till after national signing day. I can be off the wagon after a blowout bowl loss but if he closes on elite players(that we dont expect) that will get me back.

Just because you might be critical of some of the things that happened during the game, does not mean you are not still rooting for this team to have a great season. I saw many things we could improve on, but can't hold the staff and players totally blameless.
