Who I Compare Richt to.....

Many of you are not going to like my opinion but I don't give a Fvck, just hear me out. I see Mark Richt as the next Phillip Fulmer or Tommy Tuberville. Guys who were great SEC coaches for a long time, but then slowly and surely declined into nothing.

Tennessee fired Fulmer for a reason, Auburn fired Tubberville for a reason, and now UGA has fired Mark Richt for a reason. Why else do you fire someone? They are underperforming and not exceeding expectations with their resources.

Richt used to be a savage, but in my opinion he doesn't have much left in the tank. If you watched him the past couple of years....he looks like he has no passion left what-so-ever. For a guy who brings in amazing recruiting classes year after year....I don't see the correlating results on the field.

Could we do a lot worse? Absolutely...FVCK Schiano and Cristobal, but If you guys want playoff appearances then you're looking at the wrong guy. Lately, Richt hasn't done anything in an awful division....the SEC East is pathetic and he has never been able to get over the hump.

I want a savage who is gonna bring back fire to the sidelines and coach like a maniac. I don't want a guy who can't even decide if he wants to still coach anymore....does that sound like a guy who has a blueprint for success? No, it sounds like a guy who is tentative. I want confidence, aggression, and "that dog"....those are the traits that built great coaches like Jimmy, Butch and Urban. I'm sorry guys Richt doesn't have it anymore.

Give me an old guy like Butch, who will coach with fire and a chip on his shoulder and with something to prove s. Or give me a young guy like Mullen who is an up and coming animal! Don't give me the minister and country club style coach. Is he Better than some of our options, and Folden? Yes, but he's not going to consistently get us to where we need to be. Some of you please wake up.
Preach!

Guess we're in the minority on this board. Suddenly for so many porsters Richt is a god...so depressing.

100% agree. With richt we'd be very good, but not national title good. 10 and 2 every year is nice, but that's not the ultimate goal. UGA is a legit program with legit resources, and they haven't won the SEC in 10 years.

Right on. It's not about bashing Richt. I think he's a solid coach, he used to be a great coach....but now....well you know where I stand. He's at the tail end of his career, gotta question how much motivation he's got to rebuild another program. I like the guy, I just think we can and should do better.

AMEN OP. If your choices are Mullen Butch and Richt, Richt should be a distant third.

When has Miami ever succeeded with the nice guy? With the soft spoken humble guy? NEVER.

We need a guy who has a ferocious desire to beat people. That ain't richt.

I do not understand how you can compare Richt's "loss of fire" with a Davis who hasn't coached in years. You are making a huge assumption as to what Davis will be.

Listen to a Davis interview and tell me he doesn't scream "give me this ******* job so I can turn Miami into a national champion"; meanwhile, Richt can't even decide if he even wants to coach football anymore....guy is declining. Not the same coach he was In the early to mid 2000's with a desire to win.

To me the below quote says it all. The man is tired and IMO doesn't want a high stress job. He wants to talk to UVA for the love of God. To me that says he just doesn't have that fire that he once did. And there's nothing wrong with that but we shouldn't be hiring someone that feels miserable at a program that has championship expectations.

"I just think that 15 years is a long time," Richt said. "I think the expectations have been built to the point that if you don't win a championship it's kind of miserable around here. If we don't make it to [the SEC championship game in] Atlanta, I'm miserable, too."

On the contrary, I believe Butch is gonna coach like he's 40 years old and his life depended on it. He's got a lot to prove, and his desire to set things right makes him a more desirable candidate.

Based off what?? Just gut instinct?? I wouldn't hate a Butch hire, but it has even more question marks than a Richt hire. I get the arguments that some people want the younger up and coming coach that is more of a gamble, but may be a home run. That argument has merit. But if you are arguing Butch over Richt your boat ain't holding water. Your argument lacks wisdom. The guy couldn't finish better than third in the coastal his whole time at UNC, and hasn't coached in five years. Serious ? marks. And why doesn't ANYBODY else want him????
