Not NY. NYC. Cops will not arrest you for smoking weed and if you get caught smoking in public you get a 50 dollar fine.

It is comical how wrong you are. You don't live in NYC so you have no idea what you are talking about. People literally hand out business cards for weed sales and police will walk right by them. The only issue is smoking in public and even then often times you will not get the ticket.

I don't need to live in NY to know the laws. Recreational use is not legal. You run the risk of fines and arrest no matter what you think.

You do not run the risk of arrest. Only fines. I live here. I know a bunch of NYPD that will tell you the same thing. There are literaly weed shops that sell weed that cops just walk past. You can get a fine for smoking in public in colorado as well.
