Who do we want to lose this weekend?

I’m sure it’s buried in a thread somewhere but I haven’t dug deep enough to find it, so I ask who do we want to lose (or win same question) for us to get in?

From what I see it’s obviously BYU losing is a no brainer. But I hear different things on the SEC championship game.

I believe that Bama is in regardless. So them winning won’t affect us either way. Should they lose the committee could slide them between ND and us and then we are out. Not sure who would make it between ND and Bama but I don’t really give a **** as it would knock us out. I think Bama winning moves them to the 3-5 range, Georgia could drop to 7. That would put us next to ND for the 10 spot and hopefully the committee puts us in. U know what that means? We go to Athens in the first round (7/10 matchup) and Beck’s return trip to face his former team. You can’t tell me the committee didn’t think about that beforehand and thought of the ratings for that game.

That’s just my idea. I haven’t looked at Georgia’s head to head with the other sec teams so not sure who they would have the head to head wins against to be moved in front of or behind. But I can’t see them pushing Georgia out.

I also don’t think Duke vs Virginia means anything. I have seen people say that if Duke wins then two G5’s get in and the committee will want to put an ACC team in so we are good (still would need BYU to lose) but I don’t believe they would care.

So back to my original question, in everyone else’s eyes on this board, who do we want to lose this weekend?

I’ll hang up and listen

I think the two that we need to clear out a path would be for BYU to get routed by TT and for BAMA to win. You could throw in a Duke victory for good measure, but the BYU L is absolutely necessary or else we are almost certainly out unless BAMA gets blown out and their QB gets injured (not hoping on an injury BTW).

I just realized that Boise state is in a conference championship game. Does them losing do anything to ND (ND beat them)? Would a loss for Boise **** with the SOS, SOR any of the other advanced stats I don’t care enough about to fully research? Do I really need to keep that game on Friday in the back of my mind?

I've been having a spirited debate with an old delusional Irish fan (are there any other kind) and he keeps spouting that they have a stronger strength of schedule and of course it's silly - they're 42 and we're 44, but it would be nice if Boise lost and that SOS shifted a couple of spots.

BYU must lose, not debatable. We need them to drop a spot.

Alabama went up a spot to get protection against a loss against UGA. We want bama to win so ND would be next to us 10/11 in the pool to force the committee to value the H2H. Maybe if bama gets ran off the field, they could drop 2 places. I doubt it tho, minimum 30pt loss to really consider it.

We want UVA to lose as it might help sway the committee to boost us to avoid the headline of the ACC being completely left out of the playoffs.

BYU: loss
BAMA: win
UVA: loss

How does bama winning help Miami? If bama losses and has 3 losses albeit one in a corner championship the committee really is going to act Ike the game doesn’t count at all? It’s a free loss? It’s time to end contented championships which is wild to think. This sport is basically amateur nfl and has lost everything about itself

In order of importance:

TT over BYU (preferably by a lot) — MUST HAPPEN

Bama over Georgia (margin doesn’t matter) — MUST HAPPEN

Duke over UVA (margin doesn’t matter) — Not necessary but it would help us, in my opinion

UNLV over Boise (margin doesn’t matter) — not necessary but further hurts ND’s resume.

Bama is not going to be punished for losing the SEC championship game. That’s why they moved them up — to create a buffer for them with ND.

With that said, if they lose, they will drop behind ND again, which takes away the head-to-head comparison between us and ND. We want to be right next to ND. If Bama loses, we won’t be, even if BYU loses.

Why does Alabama need to win?

You guys think a 3-loss SEC team would make it in?
