Who’s hitting the portal?

Guys like Chris Washington, Chantz Williams, and Flagg walked on senior day and still have eligibility. K Smith is out of eligibility.

I'd imagine the list starts there.

-Chaney and/or Parrish - they've been surpassed by Fletcher and talent coming in behind them. NFL is also an option, obviously looking at practice squad type guys
-Skinner, Jacurri, Moss, and Chase Smith - obvious candidates
-Harvey, Ladson, Redding - 5th year guys that didn't walk on senior day. Would take Harvey back - don't care about the other 2
-Robby/Bobby Washington, Citizen, Brashard, Riley Williams, Malik Bryant - those would be my surprise (but not so surprised) transfer candidates

Side note slightly off-topic: I got pretty excited about the guys that didn't walk on senior day.
-Jared Harrison-Hunte - Huge if he's coming back next year. Turning into a good player and much needed DT depth.
-Thomas Gore - Not a huge difference maker but can make plays and a veteran presence. Much needed depth at DT.
-Mesidor - obviously he wasn't going anywhere after the injury riddled season. Our DEs will be scary good next year. Game changing. Bain a year older and basically an older version of Bain on the other side.
-Zion Nelson - No expectations but maybe there's something there. He was a top 3 round draft pick player at LT 2 years ago.
-Jalen Rivers - Graduated and in a masters program. Same class as Chantz. Could have walked but didn't. Could still declare for the draft but if he returns.. looking at a rock solid OL again in 2024. Maybe even improved. He could switch to play Center or LG again.
-Anthony Campbell - obviously red-shirting at this point - huge dude that has a high ceiling. Depth at DT.

I know Matt Lee did walk (I think?) but it's not unprecedented for a kid to come back to school after he walks at Senior Day. Getting 1 more year of him would be HUGE for next year.

Yes he did. Not unprecedented but I thought it was telling of his upcoming decision compared to Rivers not walking also telling of what he's going to do.

Maybe his mind just isn't made up but he didn't want to miss out on walking if he was actually done.

I worry Chris Johnson will

No reason why he shouldnt have played more this season
If you go back and watch Saturdays game and see how many times our RBs missed their assignment in pass pro that’s probably why he isn’t playing. It’s the first time all year I’ve noticed pass pro for the RBs being an issue.

Fumbling and being a ghost in pass pro is the number 1 reason running backs don’t get burn and those are two things that freshman running backs struggle with especially ones that weight 180 pounds.

If a player can help you now, play him

There is no reason to redshirt anymore with the portal looming

Someone like Johnson should have played

Unlike the liunemen from last years class that did redshirt, Wayne, Collins etc

If you know coach Sol. Said no way you see the field if you can’t pass block.

I don’t want to speculate for no reason, but it’ll be telling if certain individuals leave. Matt Lee was one of them for me imo, I thought he could’ve definitely returned if he believed in what Mario was selling / easy schedule in 2024.

If we’re really just a portal QB away as some of you suggest, it wouldn’t make sense for him to go pro just to be a late draft pick or maybe UDFA. That’s the old Miami way of thinking for many of our players.

Don’t see him any higher than Round 5, plenty of sites have him UDFA.

Interesting that no one has mentioned the bad OL.

Lou, Washington, Denis, the other Oregon kid.

If Campbell isn’t playing this year, send him packing as an 8th yr guy. Same with Cam.

Campbell is on Tennessee and playing very well (I assume you’re alluding to him if you’re mentioning OL).

Just guessing

Tvd
Jacurri
Chaney
Arroyo
Skinner
Redding
Brashard*
Cyrus
Chase smith
Keontra

Then u got some guys probably going to the league, might be a really big turnover next year.
chantz Washington maybe flagg.

I dont think Chase and Arroyo leave they are dealing with injuries.

Feel a lot better about DT depth regardless of LT's decision to stay or go to the league. The 3 listed above, plus Burroughs, Horton, and Moten. It's formidable.
Robby/Bobby Washington, Citizen, Chris Johnson, Brashard, Riley Williams, Malik Bryant - those would be my surprise (but not so surprised) transfer candidates

I’ll start with Riley Williams - why? He’s going to be TE1 next year. Maybe due to the OFF scheme and the way TEs were used this year but I don’t see it.

Citizen - Agree unless he just really truly wants to be a Cane. I can see him wanting to get healthy first and then if not satisfied with his place on the depth chart in Year 3, transferring out.

Robby/Bobby/Malik/CJ - no way. All will have had a full year in the program and see how Mario plays the guys who make plays, regardless of seniority.

Brashard - Tough One. 50/50 so I agree w/you as a toss up. He SHOULD come back though.

IMO the #1 off-season goal for Mario/Rad should be to keep the OFF/DEF coaching staff together for another year. Continuity matters more than casual football fans will ever know/understand.

Considering the staff played a ton of true freshmen, many for big minutes and in big games, if he isn't playing then it's something to do him not being ready.

Riley - usage/scheme
Citizen - I think he comes back but wouldn't be shocked if he didn't.
Robby/Bobby/CJ - Their dad's aren't the greatest influence. The Washington's dad has been vocal on social media already. CJ's dad didn't want him here to start with. He wanted him in a better offensive system like Ole Miss
Bryant - Not as good as advertised and it's already evident
Brashard - should probably go somewhere he can be featured if that's what he wants. Won't be here.
