Which of these one-play away teams was the best?

1986 best of those teams by far. Outscored opponents 420-136 for the season. Closest game during the season was 23-15 win vs a ranked Florida team. Seven turnovers in that championship game. Seven! And we still almost won. Most teams that commit 7 turnovers in a game are losing by 40+

1988 2nd best. Had a couple close calls that season including an insane comeback against Michigan

2002 3rd best. Probably most talented of the group, but had a lot of close calls against average teams. McGahee bailed us out in at least 4-5 games.

1986 by talent across the board.

2002 2nd in talent across the board.

1988 had the weaker (not weak, just not 1986 level) defense of the three, least playmakers at WR, but the best QB of the 3 and an offense that was a Swiss Watch.

About 8: schedule was insanely tough, which makes that bull**** fumble call and West Virginia’s presence aggravating.

Absolutely correct on schedule.
1988 team played 6 Top 15 teams (including 3 of top 6) in 12 games.
And lost one game, by 1 point despite the worst officiating call ever and all JJ had to do was kick the XP, and we likely go undefeated and win the Natty.
