Which DL transfer will have the biggest impact in 2022?

As we entered fall camp in 2021, we found ourselves in the thrilling throes of discussing Zach McCloud at DE and whether or not an undersized, 5* true freshman DT could somehow replicate Gerald Willis in his first ever collegiate game, vs Alabama no less. After feasting on the riches of Joe Jack to Garvin to Greg to Phillips and Quincy, we found ourselves picking through the buffet line for a converted LB and some kids who we liked in spots but weren't the type of dish we’d set in front of our wife or client.

While Diaz never had a barnful of the most dynamic DTs, the fall of last year was spent muttering, “JHH has NFL traits!” and “John Ford is a large human being” under our breath, between memories of G Will and Mongolian battlefield tactics of encirclement.

Then Mario cometh.

We didn’t get everyone we wanted in the portal, but everyone we got almost everyone else wanted, especially on DL. In the span of a month the outlook of this unit went from poopy dooku to “eh, strongest unit on the team?” Real studs, capable of winning real games, changing the course of a program. I like each of them for different reasons, but I don’t matter here.

I’ve been noticing (from drill footage) that Moultrie’s first step is crazy, his hands are violent and he has a motor. He is very very quick. Our 3rd down pass rush teams are gonna be lethal this season.

Mesidor can line up at different spots and be effective but I just think Jackson will change how the entire line performs with his presence

Very possible. I think Mesidor being proven over a larger sample size helps a lot immediately. On paper this d line overall is nasty.

I voted for Mesidor due to his flex inside/out, but Jackson is just as important..tie between the two in my opinion.

Tricky question. I went with Mesidor because of the immediate stats (for himself and the LBs, as a stout SSDE sealing things off) he’ll provide. Jackson is the most intriguing and, as I wrote before we even got him, plays a position that allows us to completely change our fronts. If after a couple scrimmages he shows he can be at least a level above Jordan Miller, he’d then be my answer.

Very excited about Mesidor and Agude and what they will do for us, but Jackson is the answer. We have no one else like him and he will be extremely tough for this conference to handle once he gets rolling.
