Honestly, because I don’t think there is a person better suited to answer the question. And I find it very interesting that your answer is different from everyone else. When in doubt, I will take the opinion of a player over a fan every second of every day. You are like a stock trader with inside knowledge.

I get why people are saying the things they're saying. But they're simply looking at the make up of the coaches in question. You gotta go a lil deeper. Dennis was kiffin and riley before they were in diapers & he was great about delegating authority where both kiffin and riley suck at that. With the rules of modern day football, along with the offense he employed and the QB development he was money for. Throw that in with he always had great staff and evaluations even when butch who was the common denominator for JJ had nothing to do with his staffs. That offense,today's climate and a defensive coordinator with a clue...

The one thing I'll say about the rest is I love Butch like a father to my dying breath. I love JJ like family as well. But if Howard(who really got the ball rolling even though Saban gets a slight bit of credit)never left here NONE of those dudes would've ever been known. Howard CREATED this dynasty, where JJ & Dennis refined it. Howard would've owned college football for a LONG time and as a result we would've had at least 3 to 4 more championships if not more.
 
Jj is who i think is the best but I don’t think it’s a wrong answer from Howard to butch

If i had to choose id say butch therefore we still get erickson and jimmy after Howard but we dont get coker/randy/golden after butch

Plus the rosters he built are just too insane to not choose him. If he stayed until 2010 instead of 2000 im sure we win a few more nattys

And he would’ve left the program in better shape than coker left it so we probably don’t fall off a cliff for the next eras

The thing that always makes me put an * by DE's name is those teams from 89-93 were mostly JJ's recruits. Yes, DE was a great offensive mind ahead of his time, but what happened when Jimmy's recruits graduated.? Had he had the recruiting prowess of Jimmy or Butch, I would remove the * from his name. But hey what do I know? I'm not too bright so I may just be babbling🤣
