Mensah needs to start taking some of those 4-6 yard scrambles available to him instead of waiting in a collapsing pocket for something to open up. This OL is not last year's or the year's before. He's holding onto the ball too long. And he doesn't have a particularly strong arm where he can wing it if he doesn't have an ability to step into a throw.
If Mensah wants to make it in the NFL he has to speed up his progressions and accept the safety pass as part of it.
I was watching Jordan Love this last weekend against the cowboys and he's literally going through a progression a second and then dump off by 3. It's incredibly methodical. There's no panic once he gets to the last option, it's just 1...no...2...no...ok, nothing's there, dump off.
And Love has just as much time as Mensah back there. The choice is happening fast. I feel like for a lot of college QBs the dump off is always ignored until there's panic. It should help settle him if he just accepts it.
