He’s underachieving more than anyone else in the ACC right now. Losing to the worst FSU team since the 1970s and that scrappy but crappy UVA team I was surprised how bad their front 7 was. I know theyve recruited some studs and maybe they’re young up front but I was shocked at how weak they were and basically had no physicality. Their dc is historically very good but man we should be able to pound them.

This might actually be a game for us like the first few games where Lashlee could get away with running up the middle with lots of chunk run plays and not overthink it. Even that last field goal drive UVA had, they basically pounded and UNC was still crowding up towards the line of scrimmage and couldn’t stop it.

The hype around unc was absurd coming into the year. They have some players but it’s not like the roster is loaded. Mack will bring in a lot of blue chippers and will be a pain but they won’t be an elite squad.

Jay Bateman is a good DC so I’m surprised their defense is sucking balls right now.
 
Too early in his tenure to judge, again. He made some good hires, and has been recruiting well. He’s had success but was just abysmal at the end of his Texas. But If his recruiting is one of the reasons he’s been slurped, you’d probably wait until his recruits are in the program longer or at all to judge. But that’s just me

Exactly. Take away an NFL quarterback from the helm and he’s good for 9-10 wins if the conference is very weak. He’ll lose (Substantially) to superior teams and he’ll be upset at least once in the season.

He was a good recruiter at Texas from the start, and the mirage of his 9-10 win seasons early on kept it going. Those seasons were built off of out of conference schedules that featured the weakest lineups that Ive seen and a very, very down Big 12. But absent an NFL quarterback he was beaten five years in a row by his rival in Oklahoma. He lost Adrian Peterson because he was crushed by Stoops.

Once McCoy left he did not have another NFL QB in the pipeline, and while his team was extremely talented complacency set in. The out of conference schedule began to become tougher, the Big 12 had improved and recruiting became more difficult. I can’t proper rly explain how much of a machine Mack had assembled early on in his tenure. Take a random mid 2000s class...almost all of these players visited Texas the previous April and committed that weekend. That was it...there was no sweating out NSD. By 2011 those days were gone. Baylor was stealing recruits, as was the SEC. By 2014 the days of perpetual Top 5 classes were gone.

UNC won 2 games in 2018. We were embarrassed to play a competitive game with them last year as 17 point favorites. They're just not that good a football team and never were. All undeserved hype
