Where this team would be if we had had a kicker

Dumb way to think. Every good team isn't the 27 Yankees, they just have good records that attract recruits which is what makes it sustainable.

It would be much better to be 7-2 or 9-0 even if it was a paper tiger as it would be nice to be in the spotlight and as you said, would help with recruiting, but give us a great kicker and we are still going to get beat by the vast majority of top 25 teams. With the exception of UF and maybe Virginia, we shouldn't be in a position where a kick or two would cause us to win or lose a game.

Now don't get me wrong, I think we played well today and am glad to see the progress being made, but let's not forget that we were in a dog fight with CMU and lost to GT (whose only other win is Jacksonville State).

So again, 7-2 or 9-0 is definitely a better situation that we are in now, but we still have a long ways to go even with a kicker.

Have to disagree. 9-0 and nobody cares about a few squeakers. Just get Dubs.

I think you are missing my point; I agree 9-0 is good and certainly better than where we are but it would also mask issues that would likely be exposed as soon as we played teams with a pulse. Having a good kicker would be great, but the Oline, offensive playing calling and some of the issues on defense would all still need to be addressed before we would be a legit top 25 team; otherwise we get situation where we have a good record and then play the Wisconsins of the world and get pummeled.

Now all of those things I mentioned seemed to improve either today or over the last few weeks; hopefully that trend continues, we gain momentum, hold on/improve the recruiting class and then next year we are legit. We will see.
