Where is the TE in this Offense?

I think it’s starting to slowly transition back to what Mario wants to be. Bully ball between the tackles. The last two games was as vanilla as it gets in the run game. Our OL can’t move the two DL’s we’ve played with talent.

It’s nonsensical that this is intentional by Mario - taking a running game scheme that was working well, and change it to be more predictable and less effective.

What exactly is Mario promising Elija Lofton to come here? Because based on the sample size, he'll get as many receptions in his college career as a wide receiver in a Paul Johnson offense.

And for those who would say that this would be discouraging for Lofton and other tight end prospects to sign here - so what? Why sign people against the 85 man roster limit if they are not functional parts of the team? If the position is obsolete in your offense, eliminate it as teams have eliminated the fullback role. Then take those 5 roster spots and overload elsewhere.

I didn’t buy that then & I still don’t now.

We’re 6 games in, the role of the TE’s has been defined.

Only comment I’d make is that arroyo - our only legit threat - has been injured all year - but you may be right.

Mallory put up good numbers last year and got a bunch of targets ( 42 for 533) The issue is our two available te’s , one that’s an Ol and the other a true freshmen. Other than that wants changed ? Dawson used the tight ends at Houston ? It’s either one or the other .

You should log off. This might be a top 10 moronic post.

Complete insanity if this is what’s going on. Just makes zero sense whatsoever. The offense actually looked creative and innovative against A&M. Wtf happened during that bye week!?

I think if you look at how Oregon played in 2020 & 2021, that’s the model that Mario is attempting to crafting the team into.

Those teams barely ever used the TE’s in the passing game.

He was dressed last night & didn’t play a worthy snap at all.

Even when he’s 100% healthy he’s barely going to play & when he does, take a wild guess what he’ll be doing?

He currently has a hammy issue. Let’s prove out this arguement when healthy. He only got a few snaps last night - I’m guessing bc of health.

So what was the purpose of him dressing & playing sparingly if he’s not fully healthy?

Jaleel Skinner has been 10,000% healthy all year, the kid does’t play & it’s not because of some off the field issue.

The evidence is staring you guys right in the face & has been all season lol

I'm being sarcastic, but I would expect Williams at the very least to have had at least one target. Well, I checked. He's got one.

Halfway through the season here are our targets for tight ends:

  • 4 - R Williams
  • 4 - C McCormick
  • 1 - J Skinner

I know this is about TE’s but X got 61 targets while the next receiver got 37 but only 100 less yards…. That’s a issue

Maybe, but I'm not understanding what we are selling to the tight ends on our roster or those that we are recruiting. After six games, they collectively have 5 receptions and nine targets. That's nothing. That's a wide receiver in a Navy offense.

So is it temporary? Hopefully. If not, what are we selling?

If that is the case, what is the selling point to any non-blocking tight end to stay here or come to Miami?

If Mario is meddling, which I've also suspected, Miami is completely ****ed. He's a good recruiter/developer of the o-line but that's it. Let's be real, the guy works his *** off but he's obviously not a smart guy.

He truly is a caveman and loves boring and ****** football, he seems OCD and cant seem to get out of his own way. This program is cursed, truly.

Is Dawson allergic to using the TE? Arroyo was supposed to be a superstar and he never plays.
I thought he was injured and still working his way back.
Riley Williams is a major mismatch, and he rarely plays.
I thought he was a true freshman and is being gradually worked in.
I've never seen an offense that ignores the TE like this offense does. Love X but start spreading the ball around and include the TEs!
It's not easy having an offense that uses a TE when you don't have a functional TE.

Of all the things going wrong, the lack of TE is far down on the list of priorities.
