Where is the TE in this Offense?

Is Dawson allergic to using the TE? Arroyo was supposed to be a superstar and he never plays. Riley Williams is a major mismatch, and he rarely plays. I've never seen an offense that ignores the TE like this offense does. Love X but start spreading the ball around and include the TEs!

Williams was running along the front of the end zone parallel to scrambling TVD begging for the ball and a TD. TVD just pitched it out inexplicably.

What was he thinking? TVD is brain dead. His thought process at times seems to be, where's X? Not X, cannot throw to man not named X. It's weird.

I'd actually be interested to see percentages of how he spreads it around when we're down. Seems he just keeps going back to the same well.

Excellent question. When Arroyo first arrived, was it 2 years ago, I thought he was going to be a big part of the offense. UM brought in a talented TE this year. Yet, not a single reception by a TE tonight. ****. Shockley, Olsen, Winslow...what has happened to UM that it cannot feature a stud TE?

I remember when they called Miami TE U. That's over obviously. 2 or 3 highly recruited TEs on the team and 1 gets on the field a few times a game if at all. Are Arroyo and Skinner even on the team anymore? Never thought they'd completely give up on TEs being part of passing game but here we are. Progress right?

Arroyo has been hurt & they are being cautious not to bring him back too fast. I thought he would make an appearance tonight (and boy did we need that). The Offense is too boom or bust because it relies on the same three WRs. DCs don’t really have to worry about covering the TEs or RB because they haven’t really been incorporated into the Offense so far. That means DCs only really need to worry about two elements of our offense (run game & passing to our WRs). Over the course of season, that makes us way too predictable.

It’s ironic because Dawson talked during camp about all the ways he could use the TEs, including splitting them out wide.

The Offense went cold in the crucial 3rd qtr after UNC made some good half time adjustments. The TEs could have provided some much needed “glue” in that 3rd qtr & moved the chains. We also need bigger targets in the red zone. We badly need Arroyo back. TVD should also spend more time developing chemistry with Riley. That would make a significant difference.

It makes the job for Dawson and TVD that much harder.

Btw, I did see arroyo in there for a few snaps. Did he literally only play a few snaps?

TVD should have been getting chemistry and spreading the ball with all the WR & TEs. But I blame that on Dawson and Mario, bc they play the same 3 WR and barely rotate unless someone gets dinged up or UM goes down by multiple tds, causing them to go 4 wide.

Dawson was not a good OC coming in. He was held in check by Dana but outside of those stints he was not good. We want them to block no matter how big the mismatch is. Our preferred counter to a blitz is in-line TE blocking
