Where do you stand?

Are you satisfied with Manny and his staff’s performance this season?

  • Yes. We’re 5-1 and it doesn’t matter how we got here

  • No. We clearly aren’t well-coached in a lot of areas and it’s eventually going to lead to losses

Feels a lot like 2017, in this case the numbers lie. I’m glad we’re 5-1, but a decent 2-3 team might blow us out
I completely agree. It totally feels like 2017. If/when we lose again it will cost us two to three more.
This team lacks the fire to get up for a game week in and week out. Which has to be on the coaches. And if we’re being realistic many of these coaches have been here a while, and if that attitude is still permeating the locker room then it’s absolutely on them.
The D is ok, but teams easily can scheme around it. I’ll give them this, they either shut you down for the first half or the second. Or in the case of Clemson, never.
How 53 gets PT is beyond me. He’s too big, he should be a DE like Roche. He hurts us a lot.
not sure why we didn’t stunt last night, we were happy to plod straight into them every down last night.
The O is weird. I’m not sure what the point is. Usually he uses the inside run to set other plays up and that never happened yesterday. Yesterday was the first game where it really felt disjointed. I think Lashlee can coach, he’s proven it. I do think King is getting frustrated by the WR. He was visibly upset last night at Pope.
The WR are the worst bunch I’ve ever seen here. Soft is the only word for Pope and Wiggins. Mentally and physically. If that pick 6 happened last night it was absolutely on Wiggins, plus his catch was a gift. I’d have had no issue if they called it back. Pope is just Pope. He is fast and generally sucks. Though I should give him credit for the one tipped ball he caught.
So I’m happy we win. I do not believe we run the table. I just don’t see the focus or above average talent to make up for the lack of focus. Let’s be honest, this is a 2-4 team with NKosi as qb.

I’m actually trending on the win out but let ND play in the conference championship against Clemson. We will get embarrassed if we somehow make it. However winning out will help with recruiting.

My opinion Clemson exposed Miami's weaknesses. Everybody is adjusting their game plan to copy Clemson's to a certain degree. Miami is not adjusting their game plan on offense to combat what everybody else is now doing. That is coaching. Every week Manny says we saw stuff from them we did not see all year. Really? How about some wrinkles in Miami's game plan?

What would you like Lashlee to do for the run game?
Anything regarding outside zone or toss or jet sweeps is a TFL.
We don't have tackles that can reach block, they're not particular good run blocking OTs, it is what it is.

So what do you suggest? He has done misdirection, he has done QB run designs, he has done counter trey, he does power. Maybe you have better ideas?

In my opinion, were at a point where teams dare us to beat us with the passing game, and we've responded by winning 2 games, albeit painful, but won.

We still need 2 years to overhaul the OL. Winning games we're supposed to win is the barometer right now. Anything else is fans hoping we're better/more talented than we actually are.
Great point. A lot of us have no idea what other programs do for offensive line development.

For reference last year:

Duke had 1 true freshman starting on the offensive line and 1 redshirt freshman. The rest? Redshirt Junior, Redshirt Senior, Junior. Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama were all similar. Good and bad programs often have guys who have worked with the same coach, program, blocking scheme, and strength training for 3-5 years. Many programs have backups with years more experience than many Miami offensive linemen.

At Miami many fans think Walker and Rivers should be plug and play starters and guys like Clark and Nelson should be an all Americans in their second season. This team was/is gutted at the offensive line by transfers, bad coaching, and bad evaluations.

Need more options. I never believed we hired the right guy but we r 5-1. The only thing keeping me from full mope is the fact the recruiting class we have coming in. There is hope but at the same time I expected losses somehow....and if we close and add some more studs I can deal with it for this season. Reason I could deal with it is because I didn't expect alot because of previous recruiting classes.....teams that turn it around usually start recruiting very well just like UNC who should start turning it around next season. U can see it on paper early most of the time.

Don't think Diaz was the guy day one I think the university swindled alot of fans with the hire (which is kind of smart but stupid at the same time). They lied to us period and I wouldn't know what to do here at all this stage in the game. But we need a real HC eventually we will luck into one in about 10-25 years.....they will mistakingly hire the right one.

Team is regressing. Manny has a bunch of position coaches that are undeserving of their titles. We won’t go anywhere until his hand is forced. He’ll continue to make headlines in the off season with some big splash moves but he’s incapable of developing players and holding his players and position coaches to account.
Manny always worried that his players are going to unfriend or unfollow him on social media. He needs to move on!

If this feels like 2017 to you, then you should consider how things went after that. If we could have gone up or gone down (the enivitable) perhaps this coaching staff can make the move in the other direction (it was a CMR led staff then). If we can evaluate and recruit better and instill a attitude of pride (even if it means beating teams like UVA by a couple of points) then we will be better off for the future, plain and simple. A couple of solid recruiting classes (top 5 please) and we should have all of the ingredients for success. Plain and simple.

We were 5-1 Richt's last year before dropping 4 straight and finishing 7-5, so those of us who aren't completely blind Manny slurpers probably aren't thumping our chests over it. Especially when you consider that UAB is the only team we've beat with a winning record, and Louisville, FSU, Pitt and UVA have 8 wins combined. If UVA's TE doesn't line up wrong on that 3rd and 21 they converted for a TD, are we 5-1 this morning? I'm not convinced we are.

So yeah we're 5-1, but we're not a very good 5-1 team. Our last two performances have done nothing to make me believe our remaining games will be anything but ugly and frustrating. Take the W every time, but it would be easier to stomach games like Pitt and UVA if I didn't genuinely believe we're winning in-spite of self-inflicted wounds stemming from playcalling and scheme. I know we don't have the horses to compete with the Alphas right now, but you can't convince me that we're so devoid of talent that every game against ho-hum mediocre ACC teams has a better chance of being a nail-biter than even a respectable win. Manny's been here 5 years. If we don't have the athletes to line up and play man without the fear of getting burnt by ******* PITT and UVA wideouts, it's on him. Same for the LB's.

Lashlee needs to go see a shrink because Venables ****ed with that man's soul.

He won't fire his defensive boys he won't.......he should have been fired Rumph beeeeeeeeeeen fired him and he has survived. I don't get how he got rid of the entire O staff and let Rumph stay. Huge red flag to me when he did that. He needs to hire someone and let them run there own defense just like he does with the O but we need a miracle. I really don't know anymore man...we on the forums always have an answer or some excuse but I wouldn't know how TF to get us back to elite status.

Boys not realistic about where Miami is as a program and keep using 2001 as a measuring stick
Yea agree we aren't the same we are just a team with rich history. The big dogs do something we can never do again and every year that goes by I realize it more. I think alot of people know they just won't accept it.

He won’t. Save Clemson, we have the most talent in the ACC. But when you pair that with arguably the worst coaching staff in the conference you get
mediocrity.

Most talent on paper....someone brought up the post where CU has way more talent then the whole conference. We have more then the rest but by very little and these games are close cause of that and coaching.

Exactly. We have more talent, but it’s not by much. And poor coaching nullifies that advantage.

just Curious on your thoughts. Which of the remaining games are we supposed to win?

If you look at as a game by game basis it's hard to overcome homer bias. 1 loss was expected, 2 losses highly possible, 3 a disappointment. Losses can come from anywhere when you're not a tier 1 team. After Clemson the next 4-5 teams are talent wise easily within striking range.

And by talent i mean both coaching and players.
