Where do you stand?

Are you satisfied with Manny and his staff’s performance this season?

  • No. We clearly aren’t well-coached in a lot of areas and it’s eventually going to lead to losses

I’m curious how divided this board is on the staff and the job they’ve been doing. 5-1 is probably about as good as we could have expected at this point with a road game against the #1 team in the country, but it seems like we’ve gotten progressively worse since FSU and we still have almost half a season left to play...so where do you stand?

vanderbilt would give this team a run for it's money lol, at least on certain days.

king ain't it, idc about the stats this guy is not a pure quarterback and his reads on the read option SUCK

we win but we're just gonna get our doors blown off vs any team with a real pulse. If you're satisfied with that, then I'm not sure what else to say.

We need continuity in the coaching staff. Ffs, it feels like we’ve had 10 offensive coordinators the past 15 years.

It's been stated before - we're average. There's 3 basic layers of teams this year in the ACC (sans Notre Dame who's not a consistent member):

Elite - Clemson
Poor - FSU and Syracuse
Average - Everyone else

For the time being, we have to hope that Manny is able to just keep pulling off these fluke wins. We deserved to lose yesterday and people ignoring the long term are fooling themselves - we consistently play down to competition, look sloppy and unprepared (wait until we play NC State off a bye week), consistently throw out the same players over better underclassmen. On the latter point, it was refreshing that the staff benched a player in Cam who wasn't performing and threw a *** fit in favor of the freshmen. They then proceeded to put in Burns who's our 4th string RB at the most critical drive of the game.

Strange polling question if you are implying that a "No" (which I voted for) implies were ready to jettison this coaching staff for a new regime. There is something to be said about this Manny Diaz staff and players and it all not clicking. Manny/Coordinators are too slow to change their roster and put the best 11 on the field. They are too rigid to adjust to different angles and opponents and this toughness schtick only works when you a getting out of your own way and putting smart and talented guys between the sidelines. Mentally, I think we also got some kids that are mentally soft. Which guy on this team has a killer instinct on defense. Which dude do we go to if we're 4th and goal, 4th QTR 0:02 on the clock and the we need to punch it in for a ACCCG win? We don't have that guy.

But, we are 5-1. To be honest, the record is not terrible and the season salvageable. I just don't like the way we are winning. The small things like kneeling 30 seconds before the half instead of running plays. 3rd and something last night in the final two minutes and instead of making a play for the 1st down to end the game, we play field position and punt. Wide receivers making no effort to out-athlete the CBs covering them. I can't point to exactly what it is but this team has got a little dysfunction about them.

I don't know. I am divided a little.

There have been several fundamental flaws in this defense that I disliked, beginning with just pure alignment, and that's always been there and will continue to until Diaz/Baker move on, such is life.

I can't say that every game we've won we've looked look like the worst team. We've been better against all teams we've won against, the extent of that varies.

To be honest, if you would have said prior to the season we're 5-1 and the scores of the games, I would have taken it. Miami is beating team they are supposed to beat based on paper talent alone, and we've done that. Not particularly happy with the product of some games, but use this year to rise above the mediocre grouping of the ACC and get in the ACC ship.

I think the team is having a bit of a mid-season swoon, which is typical. This is month 4 of just pushing pushing pushing, and remember the whole statewide narrative too, it's annoying and something else.
Hoping this bye week is used for them to get away form the game a little, feel like college kids for a bit and then attack it. That's what I would do.

Vanderbilt scored 26 points. Total. This season. Y’all just talk to talk.

This team had a losing record last year and lost to FIU and some other bunk team I can’t even remember in the bowl game. Now we’re 5-1 and about to be ranked in the top 10. Yes, this team has issues. Yes, this team is nowhere near ready for the big boys. No, this team is not ready to compete for a national championship. That said, god****, at least have some appreciation of where we are right now. This team is nowhere near needing to worry about style points. Based on how bad we were last year, I’m very happy with where we are now, faults aside.

I get this team isn’t beating every team by 4 scores and playing flawlessly. This team also was 6-7 last year with a new head coach.

I’m looking for incremental progress over a long term, not “let’s blow it up and get butch and mike leach because they’d be unstoppable!”.

Most people (myself included) will never be patient enough to see incremental improvement through. This program needs a 3-5 year run like PSU and Michigan have had in recent history just to rebuild the program into a well-oiled recruiting machine with roster depth and development. The long haul back to relevance hopefully is starting this season. There will be bumps along the way but winning is better than losing and this team is winning currently.

My opinion Clemson exposed Miami's weaknesses. Everybody is adjusting their game plan to copy Clemson's to a certain degree. Miami is not adjusting their game plan on offense to combat what everybody else is now doing. That is coaching. Every week Manny says we saw stuff from them we did not see all year. Really? How about some wrinkles in Miami's game plan?

Love the fact that we’re 5 - 1, but we’re just not a very well coached team. I suspect we have another 2 to 4 losses in us, and if that proves true, we’ll all being calling for a chance.

We still need 2 years to overhaul the OL. Winning games we're supposed to win is the barometer right now. Anything else is fans hoping we're better/more talented than we actually are.
just Curious on your thoughts. Which of the remaining games are we supposed to win?
