Where did you think we'd be after 5 games? (and why?)

No one can argue that being 5-0 is pretty nice! I'm enjoying every single minute of it, especially considering how terrible fsu and uf are!

But where did you think we'd be after 5 games? Is this where you thought we would be? If I'm being honest, I thought we'd be 4-1 at this point in the season.

Why 4-1? Because for years, we've seen Miami trip up and lose games that they truly have no business losing. I'll admit it, I was nervous going into the VT game. They always seem to play well against us, they always give us their best shot... and true to form, they gave us everything they had. And our next 2 games are going to be tough ones!

After seeing us against UF and others I thought 5-0. I know we won't blow everyone out...but we nearly lost that game due to self inflicted wounds. We still won, even after spotting them 14 points...should have been 17 points if not for Pry being a corch.

I would’ve guessed 5-0 or 4-1. And would be shocked how our defense played against Vt. That was a mess. Surprised the pass offense looks as good as it does. Not surprised the same rushing offense for 20 years still looks worse than most all of the country.

Didn't expect Air Raid only, no run game.. but 5-0 (4-1'ish) seems about right.

Have loved the effort. Could do without all the weird celebrations.. but I'm just an old man yelling to get off his lawn.

100% These coaches try to out think their self. Just put the 3 on the board and Miami has to out score you by 14 the rest of the way. Pry your offense was scoring add to the lead. Just like Bell's holding gave VT life this call took Miami off the respirator. Kept Miam's heart beating!!

4-1 at worst as things can happen and we almost were, but I anticipated we would be comfortable favorites in each of the first 5 games so this is not a surprise.

Expected to be 5-0 before the season. Then again, before the season I think we all would have said FSU and Louisville would be our toughest games with VT coming in 3rd. Now?? If we don't beat FSU by 4 scores it is a let down.

I really believe that this was the game Mario pulls a Mario (at Oregon) and loses, but we didn't lose. That is the difference this year. Mario would lose to Stanford or Utah. This was that game for us and we still pulled it out (BIG PAUSE).

If we don't implode again, we WILL be 12-0. I only see Louisville as a tough out at this point, they had our number last year on offense and I expect Brohm to run those crossers all game long again.

TBH, we did everything we could defensively to lose that game, the offense won it. It's over now, but to allow them to go down the field with such pi$$ poor clock management and still be that close to beating us is ...well, not good.

I thought we would be 5-0.

Why? Because our schedule was ****. I knew Florida was ****. And I've been unimpressed with VaTech since the Beamer days.

And I also knew what Mario has been building behind the scenes. I knew we had changed out enough players and improved the culture to the point that we had a mentally tougher team that was ready for the challenge.

eh. i didnt think mario was outcoached in any way. a lot of it was on the defensive coaching, running scheme, and players performances in tackling and coverage mishaps

5-0 because we have improved significantly since last year, we're more talented than anyone on our schedule, OL, DL and Cam Ward.

5-0 right now, 10-2 on the season, because.....Miami. Had us losing to Lousiville and a random back half game we shouldn't.

On a more micro level....

Pleasant Surprises
- WR Development
- Secondary (all things considered...better than I thought ex. Richards)
- Passing efficiency/Big time throws
- Offensive play calling /overall balance

Unexpected concerns & Questions
- Median Running Game (take away qb scrambles and 4th qtr blowout runs)
- Secondary depth; specifically, getting the younger guys more reps. Richards played too many snaps
- Injuries
- OL Depth

Jury Still Out
- While Cam has been amazing and willed the team to a W; I was somewhat concerned with his turnover rate before the season. He has had something like 90 big time throws and 90 turnover worthy plays in his career based on PFF. Had fumble issues in the past. Do we get the Cam Ward from the Florida game or do we get VT? My hunch is somewhere in between (1 per game)... Learning from the mistakes, getting Rivers back, and continuing to build OL depth/experience should help.

I was expected preseason to be 10-2 and i felt likely that one of those losses would be from UF or VT so pleasantly surprised with 5-0

i penciled Louisville as our toughest test of the year. its right before FSU, following the bye (weve played horrible off byes aka GTECH last year) and its on the road.

they also happen to be the best team on our schedule and probably the best coach well see all year

I expect Louisville and maybe Ga Tech to give Miami trouble. At the beginning of the year I thought FSU would be tough but after seeing the pathetic team Mikey Boy put on the field this year, I’m not concerned about them.

I predicted 9-3. I thought UF would going to be competitive with the Canes at 60% chance of winning and VT would be a tough game with the Canes having a 75% chance of winning; so 5-0 seems great to me!

I've never not expected to be 5-0, but I'm frequently disappointed.
