Where’s the Miami speed?

We haven't looked all that fast, but fast is often confused with well executed plays and knowing where to go and what to do. Fast is also a function of your coaches putting you in the right place and formation at the right time.

I would rather have a team that was well drilled in their roles that was above average speed than a team full of blazers out trying to figure out their role. It's early in the season and we're somewhere in between.

Most teams are fast these days. Strength and nutrition has come a long way. Even the team tonight had some speed and that was partly to do with who they have to recruit. That's undersized guys who couldn't go to a better school, largely they lack size. They're smaller, quicker, etc.

I'm not concerned.

Homer looks like he lost a step. Thomas can fly. He only got caught that one time because the DB took a good angle. No one should be making a big deal out of that.

Disregard that we won 77 to nil..... Savannah was so fast that we looked pathetically slow.

Some of you are so sensitive. It was just an observation.

I compare us against the best in the country (Bama, UGA, Clemson, etc) and we are lacking that Elite top end speed big time.

I watch clemson tackle guys at the 14 yard line on kickoffs (same w Bama) and I have flashback to the Butch era.

Some of it is what a poster mentioned above about the system we run on offense. I’m sure that contributes. But special teams is where you gauge overall speed imo - and we aren’t there yet.

I think we are getting bigger under Felder - but it doesn’t seem to translate to explosive power (see OL as example). No logical explanation for how bad our OL looked in 1st half against the worst team we’ve maybe ever played. That’s a lack of power, not technique.

Where’s this great Richt run game that he had at UGA? It’s non-existent in his 3 years here.

/end rant :)

When I watch us I just think we look weird. It’s like we look different then anyone else in the country. I can’t really pinpoint what it is. We still don’t look like Miami though & your right. There’s times we look fast & other we look slow as dirt lol

Yep Jg, 8 months of very hard work to look like this.

GOCANES

Fact is, LSU is a fast team.

Kinda hard to appear fast when the other team is also fast.

Jeff Thomas looks like he aged ten years from when he came here last year. Guess thats what happens when you've gotta constantly worry about slowing down for your QB to be able to hit you
Lol. Looks like one of those before and after Presidential photos of Honest Abe

Idk what Richt watches in practice. He has his best RB & beat QB on the bench lmao. Lingard is elite. Love Homer & Dallas but they don’t have what he has.

Dude was fast as fuq, u open holes like that for him no one will catch him

Because Lingard hits the hole so fast, our OL doesn’t have to maintain their blocks as long. A good RB can make a mediocre OL appear better than they are.

Lingard needs to play. RB is the easiest position to pick up as a freshman. Teach his *** how to pass pro and play him. Lingard should be our KR... and JT our PR.
