Turnover chain was always some cheap pretend to have swag thing. It was fun, but it still is just a prop that would inevitably get old and cheesy quick. gimmicks like that are usually signs of an immature team.

Bama has the belt(that they've been doing longer than the turnover chain), UGA has the spiked shoulder pads. Other teams have similar props. It's a fun part of cfb, but it needs to not be brought out vs SSU.
