When was the last time we ended the season on such a low?

Let's face it, these type of blue collar teams are Canes kryptonite. We don't respect them enough and they can take away our strengths while exposing our weaknesses. Our kids want to be in a video game. They can't believe they are being asked to deal with one power play after another, and that our cutesy underneath passing designs are being taken away by linebackers, of all people.

And it has been that way for decades. Everyone prefers to believe that the national championship losses to Penn State, Alabama and Ohio State were flukes. That is laughable. If those games were played repeatedly we would lose much more frequently than expected. By the early '90s I was no longer in denial about that, and it was the reason I desperately rooted for Miami to avoid Alabama in 1992 and especially Ohio State in 2002. That Buckeye team was the absolute blueprint of a team that the Canes would always struggle with. Meanwhile we would have cruised against the likes of uptempo teams like Georgia or USC or Oregon.

BTW, as I've posted many times you never want third down screen passes to succeed, and especially at the outset of a game. The dunce coordinators -- or head coaches -- somehow have never studied the statistical breakdown of how incompetent those calls are on third down. I worked in a sports statistical office in Las Vegas in which the entire crew would burst into laughter as soon as a third down screen was called in a major game. They are thrashed. Ohio State blew out McGahee's knee on a 3rd and 10 screen. I was already screaming as soon as the play developed and I realized we were dense enough to call a 3rd down screen against that defense. Ohio State had wiped out screen passes all season.

I mention this because Miami succeeded on a 3rd down screen early tonight. That all but guaranteed Richt would attempt more of them, and probably none would work. That's exactly how it played out.

Loss to a ****** pitt team while we were the number 2 team in the nation....then for the second straight time, we get our **** pushed in by Clemson, and then lose again to Wisconsin in the bowl. This year was ******, but ending he season this way was expected....last year was not. only reason y 2007 didn't end as ****** is because they beat that wack *** fsu team that year. IF they didn't win that game, they would have had a 7 game losing streak.

Dont kid yourself. You didnt expect to lose by 32 points to a team with the same record and complete 1 pass to a WR. That game was rock bottom. We lost by 10 points and scored 24 on a team that won 12 games and finished with a top 3 defense last year. It was not a bad loss like what tf we just saw.

I have been very hard on posters who say that we're dead and the program is a has-been. But I have to be brutally honest, what I saw tonight (and I was right there at Yankee Stadium) was downright pathetic. There was no life, no hope. Nothing.

Someone tell me why this isn't the new standard. I genuinely do not see any hope. Even when we lost 58-0 to Clemson, it wasn't how we went out and we knew Golden was gone. I can't believe this 35-3 monstrosity is our final taste of the season. I'm struggling to find any silver lining.
Pop, youre a good Cane and i hate to do this but i want you to take the off season to brace yourself for whats gonna happen next year. Be realistic and don't listen to these 18 yo Mork slurping dumbasses. 2019 will be very very painful and its going to
start when Mork gets butt****ed by the reptiles in game 1 worse than what Wisky did. Mullen is drooling already.

If there isn’t a ND 2017 or USCw 2018 type house cleaning, then 2019 will be worse thing we could imagine.

This is worse than any you named bc RICHt just got a six year extension on $4M a year. He has five years left and a vote of confidence from BoTm Epstein already. He’s never fired anyone on his own and won’t be forced to now. He and his son are stealing money and not developing QBs. We have a RB and WR coach being paid like OCs, and we just promoted two guys with zero experience calling plays ... get this ... so Temple wouldn’t hire them away. Temple. Our AD extended Morris and we now have no postseason streak. He promoted DiMare from a failed staff to gain favor from the BoT. And to add insult to injury, our AD didn’t seem to have a clue that the only bright spot was getting hired by Temple until the fans lit a fire under their asses on twitter? When the ink was already drying.
This is what is in charge at Miami. This is the BoT and their *****-boy AD. Last night’s game was the realization of what our “leadership” is capable of. And it isn’t changing.

Last night was the realization of all of that. Every other big loss in the past ... we could still expect better.

This is what hopeless looks like

Suuuuuure... U really expected a decent game? We were ******* trash this year.... So **** yeah this was expected.... I expected a double digit loss when I knew who we were starting at qb and when Willis wasn't playing. Last year ******* sucked. Learned when Malek was done for his career, then Herndon and richards didn't play at the end of the year, then the *** whoopings we took.... The ending this year is expected, last yr, no

Before today it would be Virginia in 2007 or Clemson with Golden. Make no mistake the program is at a lower point than it was then. In 2007 we were still connected to the greatness and we had the #1 recruiting class in the country lined up. We are disconnected from the greatness, our weakest class on paper in 40 years, and no hope. This team will be bad next year.

After sleeping on it and sobering up, I take some solace in seeing I'm not alone. Because this is what is truly going to drive change: money. I am done monetarily supporting this football team until I see changes and I implore you to do the same. I typically travel to one game per year from out of state and buy new Canes gear each year, and I refuse to do that until I see some changes.

I went into yesterday's game predicting here on CIS that we were going to lose. I did not, however, expect a lifeless 35-3 shellacking. The only guy I saw the entire game on the sideline who evidenced the slightest emotion was Deejay Dallas. Everyone else looked like they were loafing around, not caring. The team's play and effort certainly corroborates that.

Guys mention the Peach Bowl loss to LSU or the UVA loss to close out the OB as comparisons to last night's emotions. Those were incredibly dark times and are apt comparisons. But the difference I am sensing now is that we are entering 2019 actually expecting an awful year. The only hope is that N'Kosi magically dedicates himself to his craft (doubtful) or Jarren stays and is somehow the savior. Oh, and maybe we decide to get some OC off the scrap heap and he shakes out. This is our reality, welcome to it.

I get where you're coming from, but like I said, I expected us to beat Wisconsin last year in our home stadium. But this was the worst game we have ever played under Richt. Worse than Clemson.. I expected our defense to do what they did all year, which was carry the offense not get 30+ put on them for the first time this year, and definitely not against a 7 win team(LSU scored off special teams).
