When to Pull the TRIGGER on AL

“What should be done eventually, must be done immediately.”

– Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley

The damage being done to the program, players, recruits, and fans pales in comparison to the financial obligations of the U to Golden; a problem the university itself created when they extended his contract out of guilt for their omission during his hiring and fear that he would bolt. Obviously financially it would make sense to wait until Jan 2nd to fire him, as his buyout drops. But, that would only give the next coach 4 weeks or so until NSD. I realize this is a no win proposition for the university, but they have to finally grow a pair and do this now. Alternatively, it will be a month of repeated embarrassment for the U. I personally was embarrassed enough on Thursday!

Once the plug is pulled on Frauden, the next hire will be the most important hire because of they ***** this one up and hire another loser coach the football program will be officially dead. Right now the it is on life support and ready to die.

Why would it be "officially dead?" The talent is still all around campus. Is there really a difference between sucking for 10 years and sucking for 15? This is not the time to be scared to make a bold change.

Yes their is talent in south Florida but who in their right mind will come to a program that flat out sucks. Frauden has and is the cloud he talks about everyday.

Someone who is confident that they can take some of the best talent in the country and not suck. The bar is really low right now. If they merely make an appearance in the ACC championship, they will be revered. I think it's actually an attractive job at this point and, if the next coach fails, it will still be so in 5 years. Trepidation is the enemy right now. Someone needs to step up and be decisive. Name an interim coach on this staff (don't care if it is Coley, Kehoe, Melvin, or even Ice), now, wish them good luck vs FSU, and start the search immediately.

What I mean is what good HS recruit would come to this dumpster fire.

As it stands now, the recruits have never seen a good UM team (except maybe if they were paying attention at 4 years old). Same will be true 5 years from now if the next coach fails. Really doesn't matter. There will always be sufficient talent at UM for a competent coach to succeed with. It will never get worse than it is now. The program will continue to suffer if the leadership is paralyzed into inaction due to fear of error.

Just do it.

There has been exponential improvement in all phases, with the lone exception of the win/loss column.

How 'bout a little patience? As coach said: "We still have all of our goals in front of us, starting with the ever competitive Coastal."

The buyout was the issue last season correct? And drops after Jan 1 2016 right? What makes any of you think if that was truly the reason why, that they would fire him anytime before Jan 1 2016? The BOT and admin don't give a **** about winning anymore, it's about the money, always has been here.

I think that banners and empty seats at every game could change that view. They are not going to want the weekly embarrassment. It's on ESPN weekly. Looks bad for the people in charge

Under an administration that cared about the program, I would agree with you. Unfortunately that is not the case here

I respectfully disagree. It is getting very embarrising for the BOT and is reflecting poorly on the University. These people are successful professionals. They certainly feel the heat.

If he goes to 3-4 after FSU, VT, and Clemson he'll be fired Saturday night. Losing those game which after losing to Cincy is no chance in **** he wins, the team will be out of the ACC race with still UNC, Duke, GT, UVA, and Pitt. In other words, he's done...

I agree with this. It's either after Clemson or Duke. We'll lose the next 4 games and it will be way too much to ignore for the BOT. Anyone that thinks the BOT isn't already talking about it amongst themselves is naive to how Boards and Executives think.

A wise guy once said that, when the trigger is pulled, make sure you have a good alibi.

I think we're just setting ourselves up for failure with these threads.

He SHOULD have been fired last year - that record, the team performances were diabolical. However, he survived, so I wouldn't like to get my hopes up that he's gone after this failed season either.

A Duke loss will put us on the fringe of Coastal elimination.
When we go up and lose to UNC we will be officially eliminated.
Let the feelers fly for the following 13 days, then the ax falls IMMEDIATELY after the Pitt game.

Awful idea. TERRIBLE. He should have been fired before this season. He should have been fired after Cinn. He is not our coach, let him go and focus on the next coach. We can be FIRST in the hiring line, why wait?

What I know for a fact, is that there was a small group who
thought Golden should have been reviewed harder and at the very least forced to make staff changes. This group with Shalala leaving was convinced to give Golden another year on his terms. The other thing I know is that the consensus is that there is enough young talent hear to win now and they will want to do everything they can to keep this class intact. That leads me to believe when they decide he has to go, it's sooner than later and they will strongly consider coaches who have ties to South Florida, or who will leave the offensive staff intact.

They could negotiate. I suspect he'd take the Jan 2 buyout to get out of Coral Gables now. He knows he's a dead man walking.
