seriously, quit it.

you all have been saying "welllllll, we're too _________ this year, next year will be the year" for a decade now. just stop.

don't tell me the team is too young. don't tell me we're facing sanctions. don't tell me that we don't have a serviceable quarterback.

all that talk ****es me off. it isn't 'optimism'. it's just stupidity and it's unrealistic.

the only way for "next year" to be the year is to just start winning THIS YEAR. get the ball rolling and next year will fall into place.

good lord.

I'm confused. What do you want people on the message board to do, exactly?

to start calling it like it is.

i guess it's too much to ask for?

So do you want people to say we're 2-3 years away?

if an arguably reasonable expectation can be made for that time period, then sure. but when we haven't won in the last decade i don't know how likely it is we'll win in 2 years.

i don't recall anyone ever making a halfway decent argument for "next year", though.

I thought we were trying to keep idiots off of this board?

I think we'll be good in 2 years.

Not great, but good.

I expect 6 or 7 wins this year, and then 9 the year after.

Stop hiring idiots to run the program into the ground and we can stop with the "the next year" theme.

My guess is when we get rid of the scrubs RS brought on board by looking in magazines instead of looking at tapes and going to games in person. It also helps when you talk to more than 1 or 2 schools in the area and sign 6 kids from the 1 school.

Once reports start coming out of fall camp, more people will hype themselves into optimism. Happens every year, no matter the situation.

I don't think we're in a good spot, but I'm not a doom and gloomer either. We won't be lucky to win 6 games, we'll be lucky to win 9.

Wtf are you talking about? Who is predicting a MNC next year? The highest win total prediction I've seen on this site is 9-10 games! Why is that cause for call outs?

i don't know how i've got them when it seems like in every other thread people act like 4 year olds thinking a magic fairy is going to come and grant us a 10 win season.

but to each their own.

the next year bull will stop when we have a coach that can build the program to get better from the foundation up. once that guy is in place we should be consistently competing for conference titles every year.

clearly the last coach wasn't that guy, hopefully the current coach is, but we have been a **** salad for so long that it take a few years to build a winning foundation/culture.

We have a QB who couldn't beat out Jacory (well, he did beat JH in turnovers), who, even after starting many games as a freshman, looked like a deer in the headlights last year.

We will see how much we miss Lamar, after a couple games of James getting no gain on 3rd and 4th and 1 again.
