When is Fall Camp? What's 2-deep look like?

DL being the strenght of the team = best news Canes fans can get.

DL along with LB was our weakest link. Teams rushing miles on us, breaking records. Once RJ & Willis left the DL becane an awful unit even with our NFL DEs.

Mario knew dat and acted fast bringing more tranfers than any other unit. Quality transfers!! That plus great D coaches.

Strong, deep DL can get us far this season. If so, we just need the WR to separate and catch the **** ball

Our offensive tackle depth makes me wanna puke
If I could guarantee one player on the team to stay healthy the whole year it would probably be Zion. TVD is the obvious choice but I think Garcia cold come in and play well there if needed. If Zion goes down.... Man we just straight up don't have another left tackle on the team who is even playable. Someone would have to get forced out of postion to cover. Maybe Campbell

Overall I’m on board with most of this. Just a fair warning: the Don Chaney camp will be coming for your throat.

Parrish fits the prototypical back Gattis wants out of a dual threat RB, and I concur that he’ll get an early crack, if not start Game 1. I think we could potentially see 2 RB sets on passing downs with Knighton and Parrish, especially if one is motioned out wide (regardless as to whether our WRs are struggling to create separation, but even more so if they are). Could be really fun to watch.

I’m not sure if Colbie getting the nod at Z is a good sign or not; on one hand, he seems to use his size well (far better than Ladson) and secures the ball in traffic; he doesn’t have blazing fast speed, but it’s pretty decent for a big guy. I like the take and think he’ll have a pretty sizable role in this offense, considering Gattis’ preference for a big-bodied WR with good hands that runs routes well. At the same time however, I hope one of the three amigos can break into that starting group; there’s so much talent, they just need to become more consistent. I hope that getting their feet wet in 2021 + off-season workouts / elite coaching from Gattis culminates in an impressive jump.

It’s time for Ke’Shawn to show us if he can be a reliable outside threat; if not, he’ll be passed up.

A couple posts up that’s how I predicted the OL to look, and I expect a jump of sorts (especially in the run-blocking), but to what extent remains to be seen. I’m not sold on Clark at center tbh.

I think Kelly is going to be a beast, and will eventually crack the two deep…which would give us a multitude of impressive edge rushers. My expectations for Mesidor are high, and Agude should be a solid addition after garnering 2nd-Team All Pac-12 honors in 2021. Harvey has always flashed, and I’m hoping this season is the one where he puts everything together.

Lichtenstein enjoyed a breakout year in 2021 with the Trojans; while he doesn’t possess the skill Taylor does, he’ll certainly push him and apply pressure to continually perform if he wants to continue starting. Need one of Miller or JHH (or both) to step up this year and provide some quality depth, instead of their previous volatile performances.

God I cringe so much seeing Ivey’s name, and I think it was @Brooklyndee who mentioned (much to our chagrin) that Ivey routinely looks the part in practice, but something happens when the lights come on…the difference this season (Imo) is that he’ll be yanked for good if his poor gameday play continues. Dunson looked more than serviceable in the spring game, and I’m excited to see what another full off-season will do for him. I also think DPJ cracks the starting rotation at some point.

We really need our LBs to stay healthy. Like really badly.

Lastly, and I know there aren’t many alternatives…but Borregales will be competing for his spot beyond 2022. Got tons of experience as a freshman, and now it’s time to hone in on the accuracy and easy ones. He has a ton of power in those legs, but as we all know - kicking is as mental as it gets.
You know what’s funny about the Don Chaney camp... I was literally one of them lol.

I think Chaney is a terrific talent, I just don’t believe that he will stay healthy for an entire season, I could be wrong, but he strikes me as one of those kids who just can’t shake the injury bug, but we’ll see.

Everything else I agree with, especially on Nyjalik Kelly, he’s a phenomenal talent, it’s simply a matter of how fast he gets acclimated to the system.

The DT group is interesting because we have Leonard Taylor, JHH, Jordan Miller, Allan Haye & then added Lichtenstein, Moultrie (if they play him at DT), Darrell Jackson & Ahmad Moten, plus possibly Roberts if they decide to move him inside. There’s a ton of depth, it’s just a matter of who exactly steps up to take the reins & supplant themselves as the leaders.

I’m guessing it will be Taylor & Jackson, but there’s at least 3 or 4 rotations that could stand out.

But the Run Defense should be vastly improved.

Don was cleared Friday to go 100%. Get ready to hear “he’s killing it”. A lot of people on this board have been enamored with a freshman and a transfer. Hopefully everyone has to eat their words. Monster back!

**** you must have been reading my mind. I was just typing the below up when you posted. I'm still on the Chaney bus. Love that kid's talent. Everyone else stand in line.

Camp starts Aug. 2nd.

Bump I have been waiting for this day since Mario was announced. I know stuffing Napier in the locker repeatedly in recruiting is fun to watch. But Fall camp is a whole other level of intrigue. I cannot wait for the reports coming out later this week of who showed up to battle for that starting spot or a part of the rotation.

Agree with @WeBallinBoyz and @Liberty City El above about Kelly. He was my favorite add to the class.

I don't see enough room for Citizen, tbh. Two of three of Chaney, Knighton and Parrish would need to be injured for that to happen IMHO. And while I know Thaddeus is rumored to be less committed than needed, he's got God's gifts himself. Maybe the added competition will ignite what's inside?

Couch over Porter? Has the Manny+TRob curse been lifted?

We NEED a first rounder. TVD and Rique, time to shine and step up into greatness. Bring us to that promised land, Zion.

Chaney can’t stay healthy & Knighton is serviceable but not special. I think Citizen has a real shot if the whispers about him are true. I think Parrish will be the guy though. At least I think he leads the back field in touches this year.

You're underselling Knighton IMHO. As much as I loved Rhett Lashlee and thought highly of Justice, those two did their RBs no favors with the schemes, play calling and OL assignments. We have 4 guys who would be starters at half the P5 teams, IMHO. We'll soon find out.

I might be. I just think Parrish is Mario’s guy. He brought him here. I guess we’ll see what Knighton does in a new scheme & hopefully better blocking. All healthy Chaney is my 1 but that’s yet to be seen.

Yep inside zone with no misdirection no one pulling and 70% of the time on 1st down was **** near infuriating for an otherwise good OC to be that **** clueless about a play that's consistently NOT WORKING.

We’re going to find out we’re deeper than we thought. The DL is easily the best part of this team. We have good wr’s and RB’s. We’ll hear DJ is a green tree all American again too 😂 Stevenson is unbelievably elite and the best player on the defense, along with Agude a close second. Don will be the number one back again too. The OL will look MUCH better and TVD is a question mark in this new offense. I think he’ll be fine, but a lot is expected of him and I do know it’s a question if it elevates his game or talked away from it.

Kevin smith brought him here. Wherever he went Parrish was going

If TVD is a question mark were in deep **** lol

Excited to follow this fall camp. Haven’t seen this much competition across the board in a long time.

Only penciled in starters are TVD, Zion and Tyrique (maybe J Clark and Mallory, and 2 of the 3 beast safeties). Everyone else is going to have to come in and prove it.

Expecting that level of competition to pay dividends during the season.

I think X is penciled in as well.
