Fall camp has to be starting any day now, correct?

Anyone want to guess at who will be on 1st and 2nd Teams two weeks in, once the dust settles with the portal and 2022 kids?

I'll try mine:
QB: TVD, Garcia
RB: Chaney (if healthy), Knighton, Parrish
WR: Restrepo/K Smith/George | B Smith/Brinson/C Young
TE: Mallory, Arroyo
LT: Nelson , Oluwaseun
RT: McLaughlin, Campbell (If McLaughlin can't cut it, Scaife or Oluwaseun move over and start, not Campbell. I just don't see it with him)
LG: Rivers, Clark
RG: Sagapolu, Traore (Clark or Oluwaseun would move over and start if Sagapolu can't cut it)
C: Scaife, Denis (I know, Scaife will probably play RT, but I like him a C more)

DE: Messidor, Roberts or Agude
DE: Harvey, Chantz Williams
DT: LT, JHH
DT: Lichtenstein, Miller (Jackson grabbing more and more snaps over the season)
Mike: Caleb Johnson, Steed
Will: K Smith, Bissainthe
Sam: Frierson, C Smith
S: J Williams or Blades (roughly equivalent snaps), Balom
S: A Williams or Kinchens (roughly equivalent snaps)
CB: Stevenson, Ivey
CB: Porter, Couch

McLaughlin was absolutely torched in the spring game, i highly doubt he sees any meaningful snaps this season.

Tbh it’s too early to say he won’t ever see meaningful snaps in a Canes uniform, but **** did he look borderline unusable.

Good post! I agree with most of your takes, but I just have a few comments

If Ladson is healthy, he will get significant snaps at WR because he is an upperclassman, coming from a better program. His numbers weren’t great at Clemson, but his numbers match or exceed Xavier Restrepo and Keyshawn Smith. Ladson should be in the two deep.

Parrish is RB1 because Parrish produced at OL’ Miss, and his yards per rush, tape, numbers and consistency far exceed Rooster and Chaney’s yards per rush, tape and numbers and consistency. The other RBs will also produce, if they can stay healthy. The competition that Parrish brings should make them all better.

JHH is not a physical-at-the-point-of-attack, Mario-type DT, IMHO, and he will see his snaps cut, and Jackson will eventually play big minutes. DT will be a strength of the defense

I like McLaughlin but I agree with WBB that McLaughlin needs to show significant improvement since the spring. not sure if Scaife will be moved from LG, where he finally settled in and became All ACC.

rest of the two deep looks good, but i am hoping some youngsters emerge and surprise us by cracking the two deep

Who then? Campbell has been hurt more than healthy, and when healthy he was atrocious at tackle. Could else him be marginally okay at OG.

Can’t understand why we didn’t go out at get another OT in the portal. Really the only miss I’ve seen Mario make.

So the staff didn’t stop going after portal WRs due to the one you have starting and that’s you’re rolling with

Is UAB transfer Antonio Moultrie still part of the program? He seems to go unmentioned in lineup projections. Can't imagine he transferred & isn't in the two-deep.

I think it’s going to be Scaife, and I’m intrigued to see if Mirabal and Mario can turn him into a more consistent player…if they can, he’ll not only validate his 2nd-team all conference selection from 2021, but would raise this o-line’s potential another notch or two.

I think we’ll see this to open up:

LT: Zion
LG: Rivers
C: Clark (although not sold on him tbh, he gets his ish pushed in a lot).
RG: Sagapolu
RT: Scaife

I know Scaife said he’s comfortable at both tackle and guard…but I think we’ll see a lot of moving parts until the coaching staff finds a consistent unit that can pass protect and generate push in the run game.

Idk if people realize or know this...but not only are Mirabal and Justice friends, but they share some of the same ideologies as far as OLine goes. It'll be interesting to see how many position changes Mirabal does in contrast to what Justice did here. Additionally, we'll be asking our OLine to do much different things than what Lashlee with Justice / Enos with Butch Barry asked them to do.

Clark is adequate at Center, major upgrade over Gaynor, who I believe will start at UNC lol. But he isn't ACCCG level. I think Scaife could move there and be more comfortable than he was at guard, TBH. But I agree that if they don't use Scaife at Center, he ultimately ends up starting or sharing RT. He never took to OG. Maybe under Mirabal that changes though. ... And if Scaife does move out, I hope they give Denis and maybe Big Baby or Rodriguez shots at Center.

Whom are you replacing? Keyshawn or George? I'm high on Young, have him in my second team. Would love for him to beat the other two and Brinson because I'm also high on them. I'm not quite sure he's good enough to be starting, and I don't think any of them are breakaway game changers at this point, tbh. I hope I'm wrong. But as long as they catch what TVD is throwing their way, that will be more than good enough to win a lot of games.

I think they jumped into the portal for WRs a little too late and missed a couple of early really good ones. Coaching staff and NIL took a little too long to come together to capitalize. There's no clear #1 on this team.

Great post as far as content/questions so I gave it a like on that. Disagree with quite a few of ur starters comments though.

QB: potential stud
RB: solid committee no alpha
OL: still mid 5 bodies on field 0 impressive
WR: no alpha will be frequent substitutions
TE: we fuccin

DE: generating pressure will be a struggle
DT: Taylor and a bunch of jags
MLB: super senior and a bunch of sloths
OLB: difference makers undersized but quick
CB; Cautiously optimistic press makes us good
S: We fuccin

Interesting to speculate here. The defense and how Steele integrates all the different alignments will be intriguing, especially the back 7, that 2-5 section of the base 4-2-5 is what I'll be cued in on. Lots of us are concerned with the o line, with good reason, but I trust MC/Mirabal to make the unit at least competent until the talent infusion of the 2023 class arrives.

QB1 is settled. QB2 battle will be ongoing but right now I've got Jake.

RB is interesting because I've got Chaney a tick over the rest, but the best ability is availability, so coming into camp, Chaney-Parrish-Kinghton will be equally sharing snaps until someone breaks away. Thad is going to play as well, so snaps will be given on a prove it basis. Citizen will mostly play Special Teams this year unless he comes in and is head and shoulders better than the Top 4. I do suspect we'll have a blowout game or two, similar to the RichtEra, so Citizen will get his RB game action there.

WR1s are George, Brinson, and Ladson.
WR2s will be a 4 man battle of BSmith, Restrepo, KSmith, and CYoung.

TE1 us Mallory...but Arroyo and Skinner will get TE1b type snaps and stay on his heels.

OT1A/1B are Nelson and Campbell. Backup battle will commence in fall camp
OG1A/1B are Rivers and Scaife. Sagapolu and Seymour will push for the backups.
C is Clark with Oluwaseun as backup

DEs are Harvey and Mesidor. Chantz and Agude will push them.
DTs are LT and DWill. First backup will be Miller and then ER and JL will battle at DT4.

LBs I agree with Keontra, CJ, and Frierson. Backups will play A TON though, especially WB (if he's not hurt) and Chase. IMO the 2 deep will be the Top 5 LBs listed above.

CB1s are Stevenson and Dunson. CB3 job is Blades to lose and the rest are up for grabs between upperclassmen and TF. CB is my position to watch for fall camp to see who emerges at the CB 4-6 spots. Will be important because we will have guaranteed AT least 3 CBs leave for graduation. Blades is interesting because if I'm not mistaken, even though he'll be a super super SR, he still will have eligibility after the 2022 season because C19 year didn't count and 2021 he didn't play due to medical reasons so I'm sure he redshirted/medical redshirted. Which means that 2022 will be his 3rd year actually counting versus his eligibility....correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

FS/SS will be Avantae and JW20. Kinchens will play as first backup off the bench and S4 job will be up for grabs. If no one takes firm hold of it, enter Blades if the young guns are emerging at CB. I'm not ready to trust Balom just yet and MW needs minimum 1yr in the S&C program before he's truly ready to enter the competition.

RB - I see Knighton OR Parrish as the #1 at the start of camp. But I doubt they're going to be our 1 & 2 RB's as the season plays out.

IMO our staff will want more of a power element to the run game and won't want to rotate 2 190 lb RB's as our top 2 RB's.

So I think the top 2 RB's will be a Big/Small rotation & see 2 sort of mini-battles within the overall battle:

1st Small - Knighton vs Parrish
1st Big - Chaney vs Thad vs Citizen

I think the Freshman Mauigoa will be starting somewhere on the OL before the end of the season
