when following your oc goes wrong

How are they going to keep Venables? Dude is a certified dud of a HC.
They just extended in the offseason. Apparently the reasoning behind it was to get out ahead of a possible return to Clemson if Dabo went down.

Say what you will about Vulnerables, still, you can’t say he’s not consistent:

YearVulnerables Record @ OU (Conf recrord)Postseason Result
2022 (Big 12)6-7 (3-6)L to FSU
2023 (Big 12)10-3 (7-2) — “parts way with DC Ted Roof;” OC Jeff Lebby hired at Miss StateL to Arizona
2024 (SEC)6-7 (2-6) — OC Seth Littrell fired after 7 games; DC Zac Alley goes to WVUL to Navy
2025 ($€©️)10-3 (6-2) — Co-DC Jay Valai becomes the Bills’ cornerbacks coachL to Alabama
2026 (SEC)4-4 (2-3) — OC Ben Arbuckle fired after 8 games???
Total36-24 (20-19)0-4

@ UF, Ole Miss, A&M and @ Mizzou to end the year. Lowkey might not make it back to 6 wins this year like usual. He’d have to beat UF + A&M imo.

Btw, quarterbacks recruited to OU by Jeff Lebby:

1. Flipping Nick Evers as soon as he and Venerables got the job. UF, where Evers was committed to, had just fired Dan Mullen. Evers is at his fourth school; redshirt senior 3rd stringer for Missouri

2. Pitt transfer QB Davis Beville

3. Dillion Gabriel (who they then let go to Oregon after two seasons to kickstart the Jackson Arnold era)

4. Jackson Arnold, five-star qb

5. Brendan Zurbrugg flipped from Northwestern; now plays for the Walsh Cavaliers (wtf?!?)

6. Michael Hawkins Jr, OU legacy

7. Kevin Sperry, flipped his commitment to FSU after Lebby left; Lebby never offered Kamario Taylor at OU; he inherited him at Miss State. He only offered Sperry and KJ Lacey @ OU; Sperry committed before the 2023 season.

They literally made the playoff last year!

He may not be a surefire stud, but given what he can do with a defense and the fact they extended him last year, he’s gonna get chances to overhaul.

Would you say his production to resources ratio is good? I sure don't.

I bet when ****ert gets hired to his new spot, he brings back Arbuckle. Although, shoutout to ****ert, he found three solid OC's in Eric Morris (coached Cam at Wazzu), Arbuckle (coached Mateer's best year at Wazzu), and now Ezell, who will be poached before going with ****ert to his new spot.

I’ll tell ya, whoever is involved in the QB eval at the U needs to be getting a raise; if a team approach, raises.
Dawson got his raise; how he evaluated well was part of how he got the job. Judd Anderson was a dud who was pre-identified & placed on him as our secured backup qb commit while we went allout in flipping Julian Saiyan and Dylan Raiola. Only accepted Judd’s commitment after we lost out on Air Nolan who was below Saiyan + Raiola in prioritization.

Dawson’s resume at the time was he had Mac Jones as his qb commit before getting fired at Kentucky, was on him early before anybody else, he had Stetson Bennett — who he knew, unlike UGA, was a stud — lined up to go to Southern Miss before UGA begged him to return (yet still didn’t know how good he was since they let him leave and started 3 different qbs (post-Fromm: JT Daniels, D’Wan Mathis, Jamie Newman) before entrusting Stetson with the role entirely), he further developed Nick Mullens and Geno Smith who he inherited at Southern Miss + WVU. Also did a helluva job with Jeremy Moses at Stephen F Austin.
