I remeber so many people panicked. Many even wished for richt to retire and have Manny as head coach. Well when we finally got that the sky is falling? No i’m not on that train. Something great happened here. We have a young INNOVATIVE coach who cares about the Canes as much as we do. This guy gave us a top 5 Defense this year and he recognizes that the offensive side of the ball sucks balls. the big IF here lies on the OC he hires. If he hires an up and coming OC, then Miami will be a force to be reckoned with. Knowing Manny Diaz and that he is an innovator himself, I think he will do it. BTW.. I think he is a better option than Mario.

I hope that you are right and will be pulling for Manny. Mario, with all of his faults, is a fantastic recruiter. If someone comes to flip one of Mario's guys they will have a fight on their hands. Not sold on Manny's recruiting skills.

He will need a can't miss OC. No project...no "up and comer" unless said up and comer is potent and carries a huge recruiting stick.

I like Manny. I am disgusted with James and our dip**** trustees who will simply not take the BIG risk.

If we are going to go cheap and inexperienced at head coach now...fine ...SHOW ME...spread the millions saved around on big assistant names. No more what a cool young staff we have that will appeal to recruits over $$$$$ and real coaching...bring in some quality.

Oh hiring Manny Diaz is a big risk. He is unproven, is a questionable recruiter and has some red flags in defensive results.

the thing with Manny is that the defense gets better each year, he will look at the defenses weakness from this season and fix it. Now he just needs to hire an elite OC.

By "Big Risk"....I mean competing with the big boys for proven EXPENSIVE coaching. I do not believe it is out of reach for UM...just uncomfortable and out of character.

Another important thing to remember:

- In 2017 we sucked at stopping teams on third down.. Manny fixed that and made us #1 in third Down conversion stops in the ACC and I think the nation
- Our dbs are the #1 group in the nation again

- striker position led to #2 D.

Again all of these things shows me a dude that can adjust, an innovative guy who unlike Coker,Golden, Shannon or Richt will not double down on their own ways. Does Manny give anyone the impression that he is a rigid dude who is not willing to evolve ? heck on the Money podcast Money said he is tight with the dude that is The Godfather of football analytics. That they talk about analytics all the time. Isn't this the type of dude that we want?

If he hires someone like him on the offensive side... its over ladies and gents.

Kiffin as OC and Fancy as QB coach/OCIW when Kiffen bolts to the league in 2 years

What type of offense does Kiffin run? Is he a pro guy in the mold of what Georgia runs or does he run a mix of pro / spread concepts?

If he hires Lane Kiffin as OC, this can definitely work.

Has head coaching experience, is a big name, is a great recruiter, great playcaller....

Kiffin plugs all the gaps in Diaz’ resume.
Sure. Going from having your own D-1 program where you are regarded as a God to being a coordinator for a first time HC is a completely realistic scenario. What coach who has been the HC of the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Volunteers and USC Trojans wouldn't kill for the opportunity to work for Manolo? Let's say that this complete joke of a situation did happen. The speed and intensity of the undermining that Kiffen would put on Diaz would make what Jeremy Pruitt did to Richt at Georgia look like a tea party. That said, if after a couple of years the AD of the time wants to force Manny out, one of the best ways would be to force Lane Kiffen on him.

He needs a brilliant mind at OC. One smart enough to get up in the box so he can see the whole field.

this will make or break him.... But he did say he wanted a violent attacking offense. When did we hear Richt talk like that about it? Even better his defense was EXACTLY THAT. Belt is off..

Who cares about recruiting when you've got a losing record as a HC? Remember ppl said the same about golden

I thought we were going Mario and I thought it was the best choice since I didn't think Manny was an option but Manny is way better than Mario and a lot cheaper
