What's your key?

Just wondering what other canes fans think the key to the game will be?

Personally I think the key to this game is our Nickel package. Clemson will no doubt do their homework and look to exploit McCloud in coverage. Having someone like renfrew in the slot is a nightmare for him. So I think we will play a lot of Nickel. I think Bandy is going to perform on the big stage and will make a few key third down stops.

Also, score early. It's obvious Rosier needs to start fast and keep his foot on the gas. I expect to see him running like a man possessed for first downs and the O-line will feed off that.

Your opinions?

our run game, need 100 yards or close to it.

offensive line needs to get push and open up holes or we're looking at 3rd and longs all day against one of the best defenses in the country

*New Wrinkles-Vanilla isn't going to get it done

*Roll the pocket

* Less base def, more nickel

* Be a bit more conservative with the blitz

Agreed. If Malik makes the correct reads early I think we are in good shape. Because it's a win and you're in game, Malik is going to keep the ball a lot more when he sees running room and it will keep Clemsons front 7 honest. Creating more holes for Homer. Who will break some big plays. Similar to what we saw against VT and ND.

Agree we need to rush for yardage. Rosier needs rushing yards too the offense works best when Malik is picking up first downs.

I think the key to this weekend would definitely be scoring more points than we allow.

Duke tells you all you need to know about how we have to play to win.

I've looked at the matchups. They are the defending champs and have talent across the board. We win through sheer violence and physicality. Need to drop some hurt bombs. Even if Homer only gets a yard he needs to hit the hole hard. Every tackle needs to hit like a truck. We win in the fourth quarter when they are bruised and tired.

1. Stop the Clemson running game.
2. Go up on them early.
3. Force Bryant to pass and then destroy him.
4. Be creative with offensive play calling.
5. Everyone play their *** off!

Rosier.

Defense will do its thing. Special Teams will probably be even.

Rosier has to hit open wide outs and open up the running with good zone reads with keepers.

It all boils down to our offense and that boils down to 2 things OL and Rosier. I expect our defense to be out for blood but they absolutely cannot be on the field all game. The offense must do it's part and even a little more than that.

If Rosier and the OL play inspired football we will win this game. Also I believe this offense is fully capable of that even without Richards and Herndon. Berrios, Dallas, Thomas, Homer, Cager, Langham and Harris are more than capable of stepping up. Now, if we get anything out of Harley and/or Irvin it will be a huge bonus. We can do this.

One more thing to add. We also need to see the turnover chain multiple times. Preferably more than 2. If we get that plus an inspired offense then we are all set.

I would LOVE to see more roll outs.

Roll outs and motion are the two things our football illiterate fanbase loves to throw out there for some readon.

Rosier is just bad at throwing on the run. We tried some roll outs early in the year and they didn't work. Rosier works best with his feet set in the pocket.

Rosier also has been pretty good about running from the pocket. He struggles moving laterally. Keep him in the pocket and let him find north-south running lanes

Plain and simple, our OL vs Clem DL...
I think this is the key. Another key is 3rd down conversion. Clemson ranks 10th in converting while Miami is 58th in stopping and Clemson is 6th in stoppingwhile Miami is 121st in converting.
