It's Monday after a brutal weekend of Canes pulling defeat from the jaws (maybe the whole body) of victory and I'm still dealing with it. But for the life of me I cannot understand why so many people keep bringing up the 8 million dollars. Please explain. Don't understand why it has anything to do with the decision. My belief..You could be paid a billion dollars and if you're human I guarantee you're going to f up in uncharacteristic fashion sometime. We find a way to beat UNC this weekend and all is right in the world again for a week (still recovering from pandemic UNC game PTSD.)

Because mopes grasp at anything just so they can mope.

Well, I'll think about it and get back to you:

-Imagine you have a 69 on a test. You can still pass with the 1 point the teacher gives you for putting your name on the paper. Now imagine you're Mario

-Or we bring it up because it's twice the amount of money ever paid to a coach by the school. It's one of the highest salaries in the nation. For that price we can't get the equivalent of wearing underwear in coaching 101.

-I'm not sure how else to spin this. Coaches can make bad calls. Blitz here, don't go for it there... But when the game is already won victory formation is the one thing that every coach knows how to do. He's paid to win the game.

Ever talk to an underpaid government employee? You get no where because they don't give a ****. They only have to kinda do so much before it's not their problem. Even if it's something they could easily do.

Somewhere between 1 and 8 million things start to ******* become your problem. I don't understand all the ******* sympathy for a guy who can't do their job. It's Miami suddenly a low pressure position with no expectations? We ****** fly planes here! 8 million dollars he better be plugged into the game enough to win that one.

You're asking why people think of they spend more on something they think it should ******* work?

Thinking the exact same thing earlier. The amount you make at that point doesn’t matter. He could be paid 1 million or 100 million he does the same thing. It’s like some weird jealousy thing w people to bring it up every post.

Unless you’re signing that check it’s irrelevant. There’s coaches that make more whom I wouldn’t trade for that’s for sure.

The higher the salary, the higher the expectations.

If you pay a coach a lot of money & he doesn’t deliver, it makes people wonder what exactly is he getting paid to do.

You know like how a lot of yall feel about players getting NIL, it’s the same concept.

No MidBro. It’s that UM is paying an upper echelon salary for what should be a more elite HC who should be expected to execute the most basic of coaching concepts.

When you hire an individual, the higher up they are and the higher the salary, the more that’s expected but core competencies are a no brainer. Mario failed to demonstrate a core competency.

And it isn’t the first time he’s done it either.

this is absolutely false. anyone who buys STs or donates to the program is signing that check. the money matters bc expectations come with elite coaching money like that. stop being so obtuse w this stuff. no one is jealous but people expect more from a guy who is earning more. if we hired a dude making 500k, the expectations wouldn't be so high. we Hired a dude making 8 milll per. expectations are high because of that alone.

I hate the slurpers bull**** on here starting with this thread. this is why people end up on two sides because the slurpers excuse every little thing as someone else's fault. we had an entire day of OP posting threads getting people to hate on media members for RIGHTFULLY criticizing our HC for his bonehead decision making. this is some weird Mario cult **** going on. he performed well through 4 games. we came off a bye looking not so great and made the worst coaching decision in program history. stop protecting the dude. he deserves it as this is his second time doing this, he needs to learn and if it takes a public flogging, so be it.

This....plain & simple

? Your response is absolutely false. Guess what if I don’t renew my season tickets we’ll still have Mario next year. Also who said anything about expectations?

Also miss me with the how much they make determines expectations. You think Canes fans care? Hey guys no big deal we lost Coaches ain’t gettin paid. Ok. Nah man every fan wants to win his salary be damned.

Point went over your head. He’s not coaching any differently bc of how much he’s getting paid. He’s going to do the best he can regardless of money.

Magically if you get a huge raise tomorrow you aren’t becoming more productive bc of the money… you’re staying the same. They are paying you for what you’ve already shown you can accomplish.

They aren’t going to tell you well you need to triple your production bc we doubled your salary. Or that would mean you weren’t giving 100% in the first place.

No. They expect you to come in everyday and do the best you can . Based off what you’ve shown and the potential you have.

LOL ok. in your world you dont think a higher salary increases expectations from those around him? got it. they expect him to be elite given the contract. fans expect him to be elite given the contract. if I get huge raise tomorrow, expectations do go up on my end. they have to get their moneys worth.

you also said it was a jealously thing. no one is jealous about his salary. the reason why its brought up is because the higher salary increases fan expectations and program expectations. that is why its brought up. we expect more from a guy getting paid what hes getting paid. if we were paying 1-3 a year for a coach, the expectations are lower. if you want to protect Mario, thats fine with me. I dont care about any coach. the only thing I care about is if they win. if they make a great call, I give them their due (I have the entire season so far). if they make a dumb *** call, im def gonna call them out.

In my world i actually pay people. A guy could want 1k to do a job or 5k to do what I’m asking him to do. The only things that changes is what we’re doing. How hard the job is.

That same guy is going to show up every time and I’m going to roughly know what to expect. Some days will be better than others. Some worse. But I know who I’m dealing with.

I’m telling you there is no way if I paid that same guy double whatever he’s asking that he can actually change who he is . He can do the best he can but he’s generally who he is already.

The best thing about football is there’s a ton of players and others coaches to lift the quality of product. But Mario ain’t changing.

its diff in law my friend. you get paid partner level money after being an associate, the expectations go way up including the expectation to bring in clients that was never there before. we can agree to disagree

if Mario isnt gonna change then we wont ever accomplish what we want because it is clear changes are needed in game day management aspect.

You can have all the expectations you want. No one is playing differently or coaching differently bc of money. Everyone is already playing and coaching as hard as they can.

No it’s not different in law. People don’t become better lawyers bc you pay them more. You keep saying expectations. It has nothing to do with expectations and everything to do with your capabilities.
