Everybody is complaining because their isn't a "elite" coach at every position. Look at fsu coaching staff and tell me what's special about it.

Jimbo Fisher Florida State Head Coach
Rick Trickett Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line
Charles Kelly Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs
Bill Miller Linebackers
Randy Sanders Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Tim Brewster Recruiting Coordinator/Tight Ends
Lawrence Dawsey Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers
Brad Lawing Defense Ends/Outside Linebackers
Jay Graham Running Backs/Special Teams Coordinator
Odell Haggins Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Tackles

Their is nonthing special about their staff but they have been extremely successful. It starts at the top with the hc. We have a guy that has won 145 games. You don't luck up and win that many games so i'm sure richt knows what he is doing.

Pretty much everyone on fsu message board agrees they are not elite after their bowl loss. Many are wondering if Winston made jumbo look better then he actually is

Listen, if it were not for Jameis, they would not have a Natty... It's that simple. Unless your Alabama, who runs a professional NFL team, you need a Heisman type QB and some luck to make it to the show.

The school itself is committed to winning any way possible. That is a HUGE part of it. They also have a booster base that is monstrous due to the fact they churn out diplomas like an assembly line and have for decades.

We at least are catching up in the first area.

Why not set the bar to the top of CFB?

Compare to Bama.

Nobody can compare with bama staff. Those guys literally have about 20 coaches stashed.

You missed my point completely. This is the U, we want to compete with the best. Setting the bar low doesn't get us there.

Did FSU not just win a championship recently ? I think that's a pretty fair comparison. Especially once you consider we will possibly play them twice a year.

I'm not scared of FSU I think they are so overrated and so is Jimbo. I'll give him credit where it's due he's won a lot but the majority of them have been close games and games they played like **** in. That just goes to show the talent they have which is about to be cut back with Richt keeping guys home now. Fisher will be exposed as s coach when he no longer has the most talented team by far every week.

I was afraid Jimbo was going to take the LSU job because I thought they could do so much better than they have now. If they had Herman or Chip Kelly or whoever we would be in trouble for a while. I think we are right around the corner from beating Jimbo

With a heisman QB. How often do those come around? They dropped off this last year and their fans are questioning just how good their HC is.

Who has been consistent over the last decade? My point is I know we can't pay a staff like Bama can. But that's what you shoot for. You get as close as you can.

We should have beaten them the last 2 years. We gonna start whipping they *** next year.

Miami has won by being smarter, not richer.

Besides, Bama's staff isn't completely comprised of future Hall of Fame coaches. Most of their fan base hates Kiffin and Cristobal. Who's their WR coach? I couldn't even tell you.

If you scrutinize these staffs, they don't look "elite." For example, Urban Meyer hired some guy who had been a WR coach for one year at Temple or something like that.

We have no idea how good/bad some of these random assistants are.

You don't need an all star staff to win. You need a properly run program that has solid coaches and that can recruit very well. I think so far we have those ingredients. Just need the S&C coach to seal the deal.

The staff as it stands now (aside from the S&C coach) is good enough to make the playoffs and win it all. They just have to recruit on par with FSU, Clemson, etc. If Richt and staff can do that then we will be in great shape

Agreed, go back and look at the coaching trees of our NC's teams. They were loaded with some of the best in the game. I'm not saying compete on a money level with bama, but you need very solid to great coaches across the board. You can't under sell that.

But that's in retrospect. Jimmy was a virtual unknown. Who the **** was Butch Davis in 1986?

In 10 years, Ephraim Banda could be out of coaching, or he could be a DC.

Trickett and Hagins are elite. Brewster is an elite recruiter. And their S&C and nutrition program is elite. Despite his hayseed demeanor, Jizzbo is a very bright guy. He's made huge changes to the infrastructure at FSU.
