What year did Miami start wearing the green Jerseys?

I’m having a discussion with someone about when we started wearing the green jerseys, I was born in 86 and don’t remember them until like the mid 90’s, which is about when I started paying attention to football.

I don’t recall the Schnelly, Johnson or Erickson teams ever wearing green, which gets us thru 1992 if my memory is correct.
I certainly recall the 1999-2001 teams wearing green. But I can’t place it in between 92-99. So I think your estimation is probably about right.

A LONG time ago (pre-modern-era, so 1970s and backwards), we wore green jerseys.

In the modern era, we did not start wearing green until late-Butch Davis/early-Larry Coker. Not sure of the exact year.

I seem to recall there being an issue with the hurricane flags logo. Because it had a well-established use by shipping and the weather services, we could not trademark it. Without trademark protection we could not sell "official" merch..........and thus the U was born and at first there were action figures inside of it showing football, baseball, hoops etc. I like today's clean version much better.

1998 vs Virgina Tech was the first time I remember us wearing green jerseys. Was a night game at the Orange Bowl and pretty big game for us. Lost a heart breaker in OT.

Don’t think we saw the green Jerseys again until 2001?

That's my recollection as well. Obviously they wore green in the 50s-70s but stopped for a long time until 1998 IIRC.

You are probably correct, though the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team has figured out a way to do it.

I met the guy who designed The U, he was an alum of my fraternity. And, yes, there were different silhouettes inside the U for different sports.

Good times...

Don’t remember when I got this but it was definitely pre-2000

This is the game we brought them back after a lomg hiatus. 1998 vs VT.

Didn’t we wear green jerseys with gold helmets for a while, back before we had the U in the helmets? I believe they had the hurricane warning flags on them? I seem to recall wearing these as throwbacks sometime in the mid-2000s, maybe even earlier.

Edit: I see our resident UM historian has posted these uniforms already! Why do I remember wearing these throwbacks against UNC though? Anyone else remember this?
