I don’t think that was Erickson’s reaction at all; rather that was that of the players. That 1990 team called themselves the “last renegade class”, and after that game Tad Foote and others came down fairly hard on Dennis. If it had been 2020 he might have been fired.

Even in 1990 Dennis was taking steps to curb back excessive celebration. He certainly did so in 1991 onward, and But h Davis ramped up those efforts afterwards.
