Here is what we need in every position to become elite and national championship competitors.

Quarterback:
We just need Perry to be what hes hyped to be. We need a guy 58% plus completion percentage and makes smart decisions and is mobile.

Running back:
Homer is good and deejay is a baller but dont kid yourself we need a legit all purpose back who can power it up the middle for a consistent 4 yards when needed and can take it to the house at any time. We need lingard to be this because every great canes team had a guy like this. Homer has great speed but lacks vision and creativity and deejay lacks strength and blocking skills. We need a guy with all of the above.

Fullback:
Realus George nuff said.

Oline:
We need one elite left tackle and guard depth. It is happening in our recruiting classes. We need BADLY for kai leon herbert to step up next year.

Tight End:
We will have great freshman tight ends just need them to get more experienced.

Wide Reciever:
One more 6 foot 1-5 that can block and be relied on to start opposite richards. Hope cager steps up. We need harley and thomas to be pure slot recievers.

D Line:
Simple as this. We need BOTH RJ and Norton to come back and we need DJ to stay and work and D Jax to get better and ready to start.

Linebackers:
Disappointing year for sure. They need to get better at tackling and need to learn how to cover. It will help if owens stays and the young guys to help with depth.

Corners:
We need a true number 1 corner who can shut down opposing teams number 1 wide. MJ will be fine as a number 2 corner but dont fool yourselves he is not there yet. Yall praise Malek Young but he is a JAG right now. He cant tackle and unless he figures this out fast he wont play.

Safety:
Jaquan has a great football IQ and instincts but we need only one undersised d back in at a time. Im sick of running backs breaking a million tackles on our safeties and corners.

Special teams:
Feagles will get better Im confident in that. Im scared af for bubba baxa as a frosh and we need to learn to block and tackle in special teams.

We need to fix these things before we can compete for nattys. Say what you want but look at any canes natty team and tell me we didn't have those things.

I believe that we will be in the playoffs next year, but it will take a year or two at minimum to fix the problems golden left us.

I think richts playcalling has been good. What else can he do besides more eyecandy sweeps and such. We have an offense based on trickery and all that because we have a bad line and a god awful quarterback.

Yall will stop hating on richts playcalling when we have a better line, qb, and running back.

Im just stating facts. Downvote if you dont like it and GO CANES!!!

1. Special teams
2. Special teams
3. Everything else

3 phases of game: Miami is absolutely a complete failure at one of those phases, whether it's punting, fgs, extra points, blocking fgs, returns, blocking, doesn't matter. The only good thing about sp teams is that Berrios has sure hands. Beyond that it was a total liability. It's mind boggling that we could not get a single return td this year and opposing kickers literally did not miss even once.

Championship level DC, LB and CB coach. OL coach might be on the list next year if we still can't blow Duke or UNC off the ball and knock 'em backwards. Oh and don't forget a championship level S&C coach/program.

The Jimmies and the Joes matter. We have heard about our DTs going pro after the game. That could be good sign. If our top juniors stay we get death and senior leadership. Plus we have more men on the field instead of kids who are still growing. In football the diffference bewtween 18 and 22 is huge, especially on the line and defense. We are not using the Bama, Clemson magic juice so we need a little age to balance it out. OU and NE where putting out “enhanced” players back in the day too and we beat them. We can do it again.

I watched a lot of sound punters and FG kickers every Friday night on High School fields this past season in SW Fl. ****, I played NAIA ball and all four years we had a better FG kicker (our OLB for 3 years) and punter than the Canes had this year.

The punting game killed us in field position this season. At least Feagels kicked better in the bowl game.

this is funny!!!

We almost one game away from the final four without our top rb and wr for most of the year. We also played with Rosier at qb and had no real depth outside of a few positions. Next year we can be in the final four. Secure the AH players and bring in one to two others we good! Would also love to see us do more on special teams.

What kind of RB is Lingard? Don't think he's the Saquon Barkley power back type. More like a very elite version of Homer. Lingard was 6', 190 last I looked. Barkley, in contrast, is 5'11, 230.

Also, at QB, you're asking/expecting a lot out of a QB (whichever one it is) who has never taken a game snap in college.

Barkley was 5-11, 190 coming out of HS. He's listed as 5-11, 228 now.

Perry is quoted in the Herald as already having added 10lbs of weight and dedicated to beefing up to 205, to be physically ready.

Same might apply to RBs, so don't be surprised to see both Homer and DJ a bit bigger and stronger, so Lingard will have to be special (which he may well be) to get immediate play.

Lingard weighed in at 196 at the ua game check in.

I know he's an Ohio State* alum, but when I look at Lingard's videos I see Eddie George. Same body type, same stride, same running style. He may not be as big as George yet, but you can see it all on film.

He has the potential to be something special.

I agree we can make the playoffs but Im talking about what we need to win a natty. To beat clemson or bama or uga we need a lot more then perry

Too many people dont want us back. We could of played better at points but they deliberately missed calls for us can't beat us cheat us.

Stronger O-line and better QB play.

I don't know if its the coaching or the talent level, but the Offensive line was the weakest link on the team this year in my opinion. Improving O-line play should be/should have been the number one priority.

I'm not going to fall into the Perry hype until he actually wins the starting job, but whoever wins out needs to be throwing at an accuracy clip of .58 or above, at the very least, and be able to make it past his first read when going through their progressions. Sound decision making at the QB position is often times what separates Elite teams from average teams.

Non positional priorities:
Offensive Play Calling... No explanation is really needed, but if this improves, and we get better/longer offensive possessions, and keep our defense from averaging 35 to 40 minutes on the field per game a lot of our other issues will resolves themselves through natural progression and maturation.

I disagree on one point. Safeties tackleing running backs. For the most part the starting two did well. FSU was the only team that made their running backs a major impact factor.

More schools than Clemson & Bama are using magic juice... UGA has the Bama look now and their fans are bragging on the 4 RB's equating 600 lbs
take a look at Tennessee not this year but next and they will look like Bama..... we have used the "juice " in the past and why not compete on the same level as the top tier teams ?? believe Moffet was Butch"s guy and we were fast and explosive.....

Coaching needs to be a definite consideration.

We'll only keep getting top classes if we produce on the field.

Hartley is clearly not getting it done. He needs to go.

Dugans is at the top of the heap. He's done well in all areas - coaching recruiting, developing...

Kuligowski can coach and develop and recruits well within the state, anyway.

Searels is getting the right sort of OL so that we can actually get a push on the OL at some point on this team.

Our defense ended up getting carved up quite a bit this year. This is a clear red flag. Diaz says that he understands Miami defense. We'll see.

Our QB will be one of the 3 young guns next year - there is zero chance it'll be Rosier. As long as that QB can get the ball from A to B fairly well, we'll be better off at the QB position - and likely have someone who can run it a bit better, too when needed.

Whoever we bring in as a 10th coach needs to be someone who can really add value. No idea who this will be or which area they'll help in.
