What was your most disappointing loss/hardest-to-take loss as a Canes fan?

Tbh the fiasco bowl didn’t really bother me at the time cuz I thought we’d be back, Of course little did I know. The one where I had a huge meltdown was fsu 2016 for 7 in a row, I was ranting like a lunatic on that one lol
 
This natty hurt, but I was able to get over it pretty quickly. Middle TN, UNC during the covid year & Ga Tech 2023

Watching their Safeties and LBs move like molasses toward Fletcher in the Outside Zone run just really turns your stomach. And, just when you explain that away to make yourself feel better, you realize that there wasn't an IU offensive lineman who wanted to see another snap in the second half. They simply couldn't block our DL and got by with a nice pick play on a key 3rd down and multiple jump balls.

I hope the real lesson was learned: we spent half of last year leaning tight until we were desperate and "let it rip" or whatever. Then we followed the season's format in the national championship game. Come out every single play for this entire season as if we need to prove something to a committee.

Maybe I'll watch it again to ensure I'm properly ****ed off for the upcoming season.

you are a glutton for punishment. i haven't been able to watch it.

maybe this year we let it rip in the first 30 minutes and then run the ball with backups. the way it use to be.
 
The 2003 Fiesta Bowl always hurt the most for me. The 87 might have hurt worse but we rebounded so well in 88 that it took a lot of the sting out of that one. The 93 Sugar Bowl loss was devestating as well, I don't think any of us saw it coming, but it was a game we played so badly that we never thought we would win in the second half.
Losing to Washington to break The Streak was crushing, as was losing to Nebraska in the OB in 1994. Butch's first game against UCLA hurt like a mother. . . as we knew we sucked and many of us hadn't experienced that as a Canes fan (meaning anyone who attended UM or was a fan starting in the Kelly years). The 31-6 loss to East Carolina was miserable, Kirby Freeman's 1 completion game against GA Tech was equally as brutal, and the dumb ways we lost during the Coker/Shannon/Golden years all brought their own pain.
For baseball- the LSU grand slam was hands down the worst. Nothing else is even close for me.
For basketball, none really stand out. I'd go with the LMU loss if I had to pick one. But the entire last 2 seasons where Perry Clark led the team were terrible times.

Man this was bad. Final game in in the legendary Orange Bowl, and we got destroyed 48-0. My eyes was watery that night, lol.
 
October 30, 2004, 31-28 loss to North Carolina,.

I had just moving to Atlanta and my girlfriend from college drove up from FAMU to spend the weekend with me, I was so ****ed I went in my room, locked the door, and left her on the couch. That was the day I knew Miami was no longer the Miami.
 
When JJ left to be coach of the Cowboys. Miami won two more titles and played for another with his recruits, but once they left........
 
I traveled to Manhattan Kansas in 2012 expecting Denzel Perryman and Duke Johnson to dismantle the Wildcats. It was that game that made me realize how far we had fallen.

2003 Fiesta Bowl, hands down. From my favorite player on the offense, McGahee, tearing up his knee in one of the most horrible football injuries I've ever seen, to ST26 looking like he was going to return a goal line interception for a TD and having Maurice Clarett rip the ball out of his hands leading to a field goal for Ohio State, to it looking like somehow we overcame all that and won 24-17 in OT, to getting screwed like no one has ever before on the worst penalty I've ever seen, to not being able to get in for a TD from the 1 yard line on four straight tries, and to ultimately lose a championship game that we thought we had won and went back to back. No sports loss has ever been as painful for me. I still am not over it over 23 years later!!!!!

This was the all-time rock bottom moment for the program (and that's saying a lot, there are MANY contenders).
 
The Bama beat down in the Sugar Bowl. I was there to see that and that game stung for a while but there have been sooo many others ( TOC listed most of them) but I watched this beat down so I guess it’s why it hurt a little worse.

I remember I had seen George Mira Jr and Danny Marichel(sp) at the hotel before the game and we all thought Bama was gonna get whooped…oh well that didn’t happen.
