Mike London Joins Maryland Staff as Associate Head Coach

proxy.php

Former Virginia head coach coach Mike London has joined Maryland's football staff as associate head coach and defensive line coach, multiple news outlets reported Tuesday night.

London, a heavily-sought free agent who resigned after six seasons as head coach at UVA, is a highly respected defensive coach and recruiter with deep recruiting ties in the talent-rich Tidewater area of Virginia. The second recent head coach hired by new Maryland coach D.J. Durkin -- former Syracuse coach Scott Shafer was hired as defensive coordinator Tuesday -- his addition is a major coup for Durkin, who's significantly upgrading the program's staff on the field and the recruiting trail.

His potential addition was first reported by IMS Tuesday afternoon.

Corch London goes from HC to defensive line corch. At least he's working.

london was good in division II, he should have never left.

He was an the DL coach at Virginia, went to the NFL for a year and then returned as the DC when Golden left for Temple. He then took a job with the University of Richmond, which was a successful FCS program before he went back to Virginia as the HC. He's a very good recruiter with excellent reach in the Tidewater area. Good hire by Durkin.

****. This is a great hire for them. You get this guy as a Assoc Head coach? Good pickup. Some people just arent meant to be head coaches.
