This was the UVA TD during Q4. Nobody calls timeout? What are they coaching at Greentree?

That play was a real head scratcher. But until that point and for the rest of the game the D did a good job of shutting that cluster **** of an offense.
I don’t 100% agree with that because the same thing happened earlier in Q3 when Ivey gave up the TD and the illegal man downfield saved us. Penalties saved our asses a few other times as well on D.

miami should have actually been losing. Ivey/hall let a guy score on 3rd and goal from like the 30yd line but it got called back cause the TE lined up wrong. Baker/Diaz’s defense continues to show the same mental mistakes 5 years into this scheme. It’s alarming.

Penalties are part of the game, as are drops and overthrows. If King drops one into a wide open Harley on that last drive we ice the game and win by double digits. But he didn't and they didn't without a penalty.

It looked like blades was confused as to what the defensive call was. He appeared to be dropping into a zone and expected help over the top from the safety, but that said it was obvious the safety was no where near in position to play the coverage Al thought they were in. No matter what he can't let a WR run past him like that. Give up something into the underneath zone you thought you were supposed to cover, but you can't give up free TDs especially in a dog fight like last night.

Not only a mental mistske by the defense, but horrendous play calling by Baker. This is the same thing as UNC 4th & 17 last year. He plays a more agressive coverage than what's needed for that moment. Yes, his players screwd up the coverage. However, after that TD was called back, you saw our defense in more of a prevent type of coverage forcing UVA to throw short and they missed the field goal anyway. Based on the coverage, Baker was trying to force UVA into a long field goal instead of protecting against a TD.

He knows he phuked up. Otherwise, he wouldn't have played prevent on the very next play.

True but it doesn’t mean you aren’t making mistakes yourself with the defensive coverage/play calls just because penalties are part of the game.

3rd & goal from the 30yd and you get burnt, like toast toast burnt by letting a guy beat you by 5 yards and you get bailed out by a line man down field or illegal formation on the opposite side of the field.

The real question is why were we in that coverage on 3rd and goal from the 30? You saw the very next play we were in a prevent type of coverage. Why not be in that coverage when the down and distance called for it in the first place? The same Blake Baker move we saw at UNC last year without a reprieve from the referees.

It was the same exact confused Pete look as Ivey had when he had a mis communication with hall on the TD that got called back with the penalty
