Our players FOOTBALL INSTINCTS are to be trusted.

They ROSE TO THE OCCASSION. They did NOT rely on their training. Corn said, post game, that they never practice that play, just talk about it.

**** YOU FRAULDEN!

It proves that our special teams can be special without Golden coaching them (or the team).

This was an incident where guys rose up to the occasion, rather than relied on their training. ;)

We absolutely have the fire power to win now. The right hire will have us in the playoff mix next year.

Golden would've ordered his players to take a knee on the final play, a 4-point loss on the road to a ranked team is like a win for him.

Then in the postgame presser he'd tell the media how proud he was of the way the kids competed because Duke is such an intimidating place to play.

Then when someone brought up the 23 penalties, he say that it was something they'd fix and that it "starts with me."

I like this!!! so true.

Also anyone else heard Larry Scott speaking about the penalties. Said something like look not happy with it, but I like our aggressiveness and don't want to take that away!!!! That's some old school cane isht there!!!!

This win also gives us some guidance on what the makeup of our next coach should be.

Trusting players' talents also means tuning the coaching system to maximize players' ability. You don't try to turn athletes into coal shovelers. Coaching adapts to the player talent, to maximize it. Corching looks to modify players' instincts to fit "schemes".

Fraulden, of course, is a master corch. The failure generated by that methodology got his *** canned. Dorito is the current worst example remaining.

It is even apparent to me that a 4-3 defense, and a pro-style offense (with some spread concepts), are best for the players in our back yard. We need coaches who are experts in these styles. We needed coaches who can immediately take advantage of our talents, and not have to wait for their players to be recruited. We have more than enough talent here, right now, to win the Coastal, compete for the ACC title, and get into the national playoffs. A few more athletes and we'll be competing for NCs continuously.

Winning gets recruits; the top recruits; the playmakers. We don't need recruiters, as much as developers with a track record of putting players in the NFL. The best HS playmakers want to see their future in the NFL, not how they can shovel more coal. Winning will get us these playmakers.

IMHO, we need to shun any corch that needs to have his own players in there; Chip Kelly, Strong, and Leach, immediately come to mind.

Kelly has destroyed the Eagles while looking for his type of player. The NFL isn't sitting still, waiting for him to find the right guys. Strong has destroyed his Texas team for the same reason. Perhaps there is too great of a culture difference in Texas, but Baylor hasn't had a problem finding talent. It's said that Leach, like Fuente, just needs to find a good DC. What's holding them back? Inability to judge a good DC? Inability to judge a good defensive strategy?

We don't need to find an offensive genius, nor a defensive guru. We need to find a Head Coach that has a proven eye to discover talent, talent that lesser coaches overlook, along with the obvious playmakers. We need an HC that can assemble a great staff, charge them with finding talented playmakers, and develop them.

We don't need to find the latest fashion trends in coaching, the coach-of-the-day. We don't need to experiment with inexperience that's looking for a stepping stone to the Ped States. Our best candidate, after assembling the greatest college football team of all time, already tried sowing his oats in the NFL. He wants a second shot to rectify his misjudgement, and we need a great coach.

The coming Miami-Davis remarriage is a great example of the melding of wants and needs. Miami needs exactly what Davis will bring, and Davis needs the opportunity for redemption, that Miami will provide.

There is only one "best" candidate. He happens to be the perfect candidate: Butch Davis.

Well Canes had the game won until the refs decided to call 3 PI & give Duke the game on a silver platter. The really sad thing would have been if the Canes had lost that homer hosing.
