What now / Moving Forward

Can we just stop this nonsense?

We can't decline a bowl invitation. It's contractually required by the ACC. All of that bowl money goes towards our revenue share.
Could we at least make the AcC sue us to play in the bowl game?

I do get what you're saying but Duke playing in the ACC-CG over us because of the rules of the ACC is freaking absurd

We can’t decline the bowl game but we can cancel our game with ND and we should. I would love to leave the ACC. I think it’s a lot of money though @TheOriginalCane would know the buyout cost. I would rather be independent. Or in th Big 12. This piece of **** conference didn’t stand up for us this past week or so regarding ND and our ranking in the playoff bracket and now they have a 5 loss Duke team in the ACCCG.

The "grant of rights" penalty and the "exit fee" have now been combined into one. The cost would be high, but would be one-time. It makes sense if we are landing in the Big 10 or SEC. Not sure if makes any economic sense to join the Big 12. Going Independent would be suicide, because it would be almost impossible to schedule enough strong teams to impress the CFPC, particularly if we include "dropping Notre Dame" into that mix.

We made our bed, now we have to keep lying in that bed for a while.

Yes, cancel the ND game.

No, don’t decline the bowl. It’s an opportunity to finally get Jo Jo the touches he deserves.

We are not canceling the ND game either.

What P4 team could fill those slots? Particularly as the SEC and Big 10 go to 9-conference-game schedules.

I keep trying to tell people...the college football landscape is quite different than it was 40 years ago.

I wouldn’t drop ND if we leave the conference

We won’t because there’s no balls in that building.

It is hard to feel sympathy for FSU but think about them in 2023. Perfect regular season. Literally could not do anything different (like if only they beat this team or that team, they wouldn’t be in that situation). Star qb gets injured and they still win with a no name backup qb. Then they get left out of 4 team playoff. ACC doesn’t do anything about it. This conference sucks.

Is there a rule about how many p4 teams we must play?

Because I'd just as soon replace ND with Kansas Wesleyan.

I’m sure there will be a bunch of threads on this. 10-2 with wins over ND UF FSU. Great season. Back to back 10 wins fo first time in forever and the talent is there (especially the freshmen). I figured we were one of best 12 teams in the country and after watching today I think we all feel validated with that sentiment.

Firstly, **** our luck. It sucks.

Secondly, **** those “just beat SMU” people. Bama lost to FSU. So many teams lose to bad teams and are not punished like us.

Now, if we get left out of the playoffs (we shouldn’t be):

You DECLINE the bowl invite and you CANCEL the game against ND next year. You leave the ACC.

That’s all
If ND gets into over Miami u refuse to play them next year idc if they say u can’t. **** that especially **** the. ACC with these conference tie breakers just go to best record after conference records if they are tied these idiots

We have had YEARS to suggest/make-a-motion/force-a-vote on a "Top 25 ranking" limiter language in the tiebreakers.

We should have done this when the CFP expanded to 12 teams. Anyone incapable of realizing that this day COULD HAPPEN is just not paying enough attention.

I have been warning that "overly large conferences" have advantages and disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage is that two teams may end up playing very DISSIMILAR conference schedules, with very few "common opponents" and a wide disparity on strength of (conference) schedule.

That is where we are today.

A Duke team incapable of beating Illinois, Tulane, and UCONN is now our second-best conference team (per the tiebreakers).

Just asking...WHAT could the ACC have "done" about The Snub?

A. It was literally the last vote of the year, it was an unprecedented situation and there was no time to lobby.
B. The CFP field was increased to 12 teams the next year, which eliminated the possibility that The Snub could ever happen again.
C. If the rules/criteria allow the CFP to evaluate a team that has lost a key player or coach, those are the rules. FSU could LITERALLY have done something different, to wit, having BETTER QB RECRUITING and having a backup QB who is able to step in and perform well enough to convince the CFP that F$U was still an "undefeated" team (in quality).

The game against ND next year will be meaningless.

Last game of season and our Canes will have already been eliminated from any post season play by mid-October.
